Yes he did that and he told me he wrote to immigration about this but I am wondering how long will it take as i have cancelled private health insurance and worried that he is not having medicare. @Russki do you know how much time immigration takes to correct it

They can't extend current visa holders as their visas were issued under specific legislation. So if they wanted to change legislation then that would take ages and would not take place before the next election. It would be easier to create a new visa sub-class with clear provisions and legislation. They would also grandfather current visa holders because their visa obligations are different.

Same situation with 457 visa holders, they came up with a new sub-class 482 visa because the conditions and provisions were so different to 457
