Hi @Capboy! ūüôā¬†

1. Payslips are great. Supplement payslips by your bank statements showing your wages coming into your account.

2. Get a letter from your employer (as per @02 Feb 18's advice) stating that you have worked for them from [date] to [date] with the signature and the employer's contact details. The letter should mention your position description in short, your duties and your gross annual income (not sure what it will be for a casual position, possibly, an hourly rate and average hours worked per week, so it is clearly over 35 hours per week?).

3. Not sure how, but try to organise your super somehow. Maybe, your employer under the obligation to do it for you or maybe you can do it yourself, I don't know much about it, but try to research it asap. maybe, you can register with a super fund and ask your employer to contribute $X amount for you every pay period? Not sure...

4. As @dar8¬†said earlier, a group certificate is a must with ATO office, please research that too. ūüôā¬†

Thanks guys for all your replies! @02 Feb 18   @dar8   @Russki

I admire all your determinations and pride swallowing experience! Talking about the previous discussion regarding 489ers should keep our professions that were sponsored by the state gov, I totally agree with it but I've gotten so many rejections solely based on my Visa type for not being a PR or Citizen. My sponsored job code is 261111 ICT Business Analyst and probably a lot of projects are related to government and security issues. For survival, I believe a lot of us dive into hospitality jobs to survive and accumulate all the documentations which are not easy from hospitality industry. I guess we gotta do what we gotta do..

I did some research and I have further questions to clarify with you guys:-

Employment Reference Letter
- Should I get it right after leaving the work place or I should wait till 887 application? Does the date of the reference letter matter?
- Hard luck for me to have joined a restaurant that didn't turn out well and I have to involve Fair Works to resolve issues. No way I could get any employment reference letter from my ex boss anymore and it's such a waste because I've accumulated few months of 35 hours a week there. I'm thinking to ask Fair Works officer to issue a formal letter to substitute the employment reference letter. Would CO accept this? Anyone has the same experience?

Superannuation
- Yes, it's stated in my payslips but so far nothing in my Super account yet from my current and ex bosses. If I'm forced to go to the authority again, my employment reference letter will be jeopardized. Seriously, this is not going to be easy!! (facepalm)
- By the way, is it compulsory to provide Super documentations as a supporting document?

Thanks again for all your great help! ūüėÄ

Hello friends,

Finally, one of the most awaited mails received today as I received my grant.

My timeline

Application date: 25/01/2018

Pre Grant notification from CO Adam: 27/08/2018 (as I was overseas from 24/08/2018 to 31/08/2018)

Grant: 01/02/2019 from CO Peter

Thanks everyone for your support. Good luck to all members for their applications.

Hi,

Can anyone please explain what is a Pre-Grant Notification ?

Is it meant by a notification Email stating that your PR decision has been completed and will let you know the result  only once you are  Onshore  ?

Thanks in Advance

Hi capboy,

That's true , received a lot of rejections at initial stage due to not having pr/citizenship

I believe the co's use superannuation statements , group certificates to cross check if you have genuinely worked for and employer and if your employment claims are genuine  , also if people forge payslips a cross check with superannuation could help co's to see if the amount you've been paid reflects the hours you claim for employment.

I think an employer has to pay your super atleast once every quarterly period , there are due dates that an employer must ensure they pay your super before that date otherwise they can be fined by ato , see the following link for due dates,

https://www.ato.gov.au/calculators-and-tools/report-unpaid-super-contributions-from-my-employer/#Table1

if these due dates have passed and still the employer have not deposited your super , you can use following link to lodge a complaint so that ato will investigate your claim and probably contact the employer

https://www.ato.gov.au/calculators-and-tools/report-unpaid-super-contributions-from-my-employer/

keep all your receipts you get when you submit these complaints/ receipts you get any outcome letters of your fairwork issue with previous employer , send a formal email to your employers company/ business email address mentioning your full legal name , that you have worked at that business from - to (dates) , position , salary paid , employment status and request an employment confirmation or a leaving certificate to reflect that information , also mention in email that you need to provide this information to the department of homeaffairs to confirm your previous employment if the employer does not respond or sends a response rejecting to issue a letter you can use a copy of these to show the co that you atleast tried to obtain the documents from the employer ,  and if you are still unable to get these documents , write a declaration with your application describing your issues in previous employment that results in you not being able to obtain certain documents ,  include copies of above complaint lodgement receipts to support your declaration why you can't submit super statements , etc from your previous employer

unfortunately the law does not require employers to issue reference letters or contracts or offer letters or any sort of letter on a letterhead so i don't think a co can reject an application just because we can't provide an employment reference letter but a co can ask you for tax/group certs. superannuation statements , payslips , because employers are legally required to issue those to an employee

it's important to have the date they issue you the letter  but i don't think it really matters when you obtain the letter as long as it includes important information such as joined date and resigned date etc . in my case the employer simply didn't respond to couple of my requests which i sent 5 months ago , i will be sending another email requesting a letter close to my 887 application date , and if still they don't issue one then i will attach copies of these emails to show that i tried to obtain a letter but failed , iwe cant force an employer to issue us a reference letter if they are not legally required to do so anyway

But what about casual?  They don't get it.

hi i think only paid employment counts , so if a person is employed on casual basis thy are not entitled for paid leave as part of their employment and if he works full time hours he/ she can use those payslips , but if he takes leave they don't get paid so he won't have any paid hours on payslips  , part time or full time employees are entitled to paid leave as part of their employment

Hi,

You can answer him like:

It will be left blank. the 11 digit visa number only applied for physical visa label. As all of us are digital visa ( i assume) so you don't need to fill that. It states really clear in the help section when you click on the question mark ("?") symbol next to the question. As i remember it is a last sentence or second last. you may want to check it.

Hope it will help

I think, I left it blank, this question 11 in the application is residual from the times when the visa was a sticker in the passport... ūüôā¬†It used to have a number back in the day.

Not 100% sure, but from my memory you can leave blank. They will have your 489 visa details anyways. ūüôā¬†Anyone else left it blank guys?¬†

I did leave it blank as well, the field applies only for a physical Visa pasted in to your passport.

Hi @Capboy

I'm sharing with you what I did (based on my experience).

Employment Reference Letter

You could get it right after leaving work OR at the time you are about to submit your 887 application. The letter must be dated. You can find all the necessary and important informations (that must appear in the letter) in the immi website https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-regional-887#HowTo

I was forthright and candid with my employer. Before I started to work as housekeeper, cleaner, room attendant, kitchen helper, waiter, dishwasher (and every hard-labouring job you can find in the business establishment except being a cook because I don't cook), I've told them that I would be needing an employment reference letter for my immigration visa application. If you need to (just like what I've done, but with their consent, of course), write the employment reference yourself and after you have made them signed the letter, give them a copy.

Establishing a good rapport is the key.

Our 489 is only here¬†temporarily, and in the greater scheme of things, aren't we all?¬†ūüôā

Hi All,

If some of you remember, I raised the 887 application processing delay through my local federal MP Dr. McVeigh in October. Here is the response I got from the Immigration Department today. Sharing with you all. I really appreciate the office of my local MP to take the issue all the way to the department.

Did he take Bridging visa copy with him to show. Usually they ask for bridging visa copy and your driving licence and passport. I don't think there is any change.

Hi Mehedi, can’t see anything changed from the link below. I think any 887 applicant holding valid 489 is still eligible for Medicare.

Mate,

ask him to go to different centerlink office and show the Bridging visa. Also make sure to don't tell about previous attempt.

Cheers

Hi @James, she may have sent you a generic list, which has everything in it, even what you have already submitted. ūüôā¬†Your message is a bit too vague, cannot really answer your query because we do not know exactly what has been uploaded and what CO is asking... Of course, we understand if you don't want to share details, but it is making it hard for us to help you. ūüôā¬†

As an example, for partners visa my friend has uploaded:

Marriage certificate, joint tenancy agreement, joint bank account statements, domestic bills in both names for her and her husband, husband's super certificate where she is mentioned as a main beneficiary, Christmas cards and joint party invitations, lots of photos together with her husband for the last few years, car insurances where they are both nominated drivers for the same vehicle, etc. they also submitted stat decs from their friends to say they have been living together as a married couple for a long time. Just an example, but I guess, you do not need this much for 489?

The best possible bet would be to get a stat declaration from some of your relatives/friends locally( if any) who have connection with you stating your marriage is genuine.  I had similar situation and I submitted a stat declaration from my sister and that did the trick.
