This is a recent discussion regarding parent visas!I too am looking into my parents following us out!

if you have a look through recent threads on "migration issues" you should come across a lot of useful info regarding parents coming out!

Hope that helps

Gill

Hi Sarah

How many children does Mum have and how old is Mum, please? If she will be able to meet the Balance of Family Test then a Parent or Contributory Parent visa will be the obvious visa for her. Please see the following links:

http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/parent-inside.htm

http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/parent-outside.htm

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/books3.htm

Someone else has mentioned a thread that I started a while back, but there is no point in the rest of us giving you chapter & verse about Parent migration if that would not be a vialble option for Mum.

If Parent migration is not possible, do not despair because it is not the only possibility that exists, but there is no point in wasting anyone’s time until we know more about the facts relating to your Mum, I suggest.

Best wishes

Gill

I want a glass of what you're drinking. :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

It certainly hurt!

Got a 4l box for $10 which was very easy drinking so it was worth the hurt.....:biglaugh:

sorry Gollywobbler. xxxx

Hi Gill. ta for taking time to reply....my mum is 61 will b 62 in Nov...she has 3 kids an both me an my sis are trying to move to OZ...she is getting divorced from her 2nd hubby at mo an hasnt got a great relashionship wid my older brother..hence why she would love to cum with me...at the mo i use her instead of paying childcare but as my daughter is at school its not all of the time. Realise now that she may not be eligable to cum with me straight away but am really gonna hate to leave her. i will check out the links u left for me...by the way would it be easier if she used an agent??

Hi again Sarah

Please don’t worry.

In the short term, if your Mum wants to go out to Oz at the same time as you and your sister, plus be allowed to work part-time whilst she is there in order to offset costs etc, then the best thing for Mum is probably a Student visa for Mum as well. If not a student visa then she would probably have to make a series of visits using tourist visas instead, which is not really ideal. Lots of Parents do become Students all over again so that they can stay in Oz al the time, avoid lots of travelling and earn some money out of getting a job.

The Agent advising your sister could also advise Mum about a student visa.

The tourist visa option is here:

http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/676/index.htm

She would be covered by the Reciprocal Health Care Agreement between the UK and Oz if Mum is in Oz on a tourist visa, so no need for private medical insurance unless she wants it:

http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/public/migrants/visitors/index.jsp

In due course, Mum will become able to apply for a Parent or Contributory Parent visa:

http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/parent-outside.htm

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/books3.htm

Mum would not necessarily have to wait for two years before she would apply for a Parent or Contributory Parent Visa:

http://www.gomatilda.com/news/article.cfm?articleid=441

She would not necessarily have to wait until your sister has completed her Student course and has become a Permanent Resident of Australia either because it may become possible to exclude your sister from the Balance of Family Test in relation to Mum:

http://www.gomatilda.com/news/article.cfm?articleid=451

The best thing would be for Mum to have a free chat with Lorraine Beaumont at Go Matilda in Southampton:

http://www.gomatilda.com/contact.cfm

Lorraine has stacks of experience of getting people’s Parents out to Oz whilst keeping them out of visa troubles in the process.

Best wishes

Gill
