    Hi

Can any one tell me what you need to do to get an aussie trade licence as a Gas/Plumbing technician service engineer, can you do some of it before you get to Adelaide or do you have to wait till you get over there.

    Many Thanks Dave.

    Hi there

Paul is a gas fitter ( that is the label the TRA gave him ).

I have found out how to get registration - I think !

Contact the Business and Occupational Services

    Office of Consumer Affairs

    GPO Box 1719 Adelaide, 5001

    3rd Floor, 91 -97 Grenfell Street

    ADELAIDE 5000

    www.ocba.sa.gov.au

If you hold a CORGI card you can get an endorsed copy of your card. With that copy and an application for registration and proof of identity application form. You can get registered whilst still in the UK. Apparantly.

We have the paperwork ready but are not sending it off until we get our VISA.

This may not be clear, but contact me direst as it did take me a few tired evenings to get it straight. I did it all by email and they were helpful.

    Hope this helps. Becky S.:)

    Hi,

My husband steve is a gas fitter and we have been here since last october.

When you apply for your liecence its not so straight forward they issue you with a restricted one, so its so much harder to find work, and you have to go back to college to retrain.:arghh:

    Hi Sasha

It does not sound easy to get work. Which is odd as the trade is on the demand list.

I have worked out that Paul will have to work under supervision and then have to take TAFE Gas Fitting 2 and Estimating 1a. Is that what has happened for you OH?

I imagine its trying to find someone who wants to supervise you and pay you? I cant imagine the pay is good either. Once through that hurdle does it get easier?

    How have you managed?

Hope that wasn't a too personal request to the end of my message.

    Becky xx
