    Hi

We are moving in June 2009 and my hubby is a plasterer. Did you ever find out any info about plastering??

You can view the Adelaide Advertiser on line and there seems to be 6 or 7 jobs a week for plasterers. There seems to be loads for brickys so there must be similar for plasterers???

It will all depend on what kind of plasterer you are. Inside houses in Adelaide 99.9 % are drylined and then tape and jointed. Plasterers here only sand and cement the outside (render ) either the whole front or just the corners and around windows as a feature.

So basicly if your looking at skimming or solid plastering Perth might be more up your street.

Oh forgot to mention on the external render they don't use corner beads. They are in the dark ages and form the corners with a timber straight edge and rhen remove it and freehand the other side.:chatterbox:

On a positive side they earn top money here ( more than uk ) for the render.

Do they have to be self employed? We've done enough of that, would prefer to work for someone.

No you don't have to be self employed as i'm sure you can find larger companies that employ direct. The wages would probably be from $25 an hour to a max $30. This would be a good route to get started and get some contacts but then once up and running and self employed the money is double and possibly treble this and only mon - fri.
