Week Four: ONE MONTH IN

Got the keys to our new house Thursday and went shopping for the essentials.

Now, how about this then? We bought a nice garden table and chairs from Bunning’s and rather than charge us for delivery they asked if we had a tow bar and then gave us the use of a trailer for 2 hours free of charge! Try getting that at Sainsbury’s Homebase!

We have been very busy this week buying things for our new home and cleaning the house from top to bottom ready for our move in which we intend to be this Friday.

The highlight of the week was collecting Megan from the airport after she had served her time in quarantine. She was very happy to see us although a little tired. She is enjoying patrolling the new garden and laying out in the sunshine by the pool.

We have both applied for jobs and are awaiting feed back.

Telstra are supposed to be connecting the phone this Thursday and they waved the connection charge! We have heard loads of stories of them not keeping their appointments so will update soon if the connection actually takes place.

Pulled the cover off the pool last night to reveal lovely green water, added some acid and chlorine, left the pump and filter on over night and today it’s crystal clear and 25 degrees. Just need to get all the crucial Ph levels etc correct and then it’s in we go! Although we must first establish how to turn on the solar heating! We think it’s as simple as turning the valve to allow the water to go through the pipes. Apart from that the workings are the same as our pool back in the UK and it’s not rocket science.

Bought a sofa bed and it will be delivered this Friday. It will tide us over until our container arrives and then it will serve as a guest bed.

Things are still going very well and we are very happy with our new lives so far.

And a really good bit of news, we have rented our house out in England and the new Tennant's who move in next week have paid 12 months cash up front! And may wish to buy it at the end of the lease. Keep those fingers crossed.

Great hear you guy's are settling in fine and you have got Megan back. Can I ask did you find it difficult to find a rental which accepted pets. I'm just a bit worried about this, as you know we have 2 dogs and will hopefully have 4 weeks to find a longterm rental before they join us. Good luck with the jobs and look forward to your next post.

Take care
