When we applied for our visa,s (which we now have- 136 sub class skilled independant) one of the questions was how much money we would arrive with $100.000 would give us points. we are now trying to sell house ,like everone else, but thinking of now renting our property , so the question is how do they know what people bring into OZ with them , do they check up and how would this effect us????. many thanks in advance Paul

We have a 136, the money made no difference,no one has asked again. The visa was based on the TRA.

We too are 136...Money wasnt an issue!

Think they just ask to make sure you support yourself...as your not entitled to the dole or anything if you cant find a job.

We came on a 136. Like Scooter says, you can't claim unemployment benefit although you can claim child benefit (if that applies) as you have PR.

However, you mentioned getting points from your money of $100k in which case if you were getting those points then you would have had to pay the money before getting your visa. Otherwise it doesn't matter and to be honest, they don't really care.
