Hi folks and Happy New Year !!

Can someone please confrim the details...

Exactly what are the time scales for applying for PR ??

Can we apply for PR as soon as one of us has 52 weeks fulltime employment uder our belts ? or do we have to wait until we have been here 2 years to apply ??

Is it just a form to fill in ? how much do we pay ? and do we need to use an agent again or is it simple to do ourselves ? just with proof of the full time (ie more than 35 hours per week) employment for 52 weeks ??

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP WHO EVER HAS THE EXPERIENCE TO ANSWER thanks very much...:jiggy:

Work for 1 year full time and reside in sa for 2 years.

Not sure of the fees - but it isn't the full fee -- read somewhere of $190. Must re apply with same forms - need police checks again - but pot luck whether you do meds or not again!

Only 5 more months til hopefully we get pr!

    Thanks for replying Nick..

So. taking on board what was mentioned in an earlier thread that if you make a contract to buy a house as a first time buyer you can claim the rebate back once you are a pr then ?

So if we arrived in Sept 08, started work start of Dec 08, work for 12 months but cant apply for PR until Sept 10, then shouldnt buy house until Sept 09 or later to get first time buyers grant ???

Really confused..please help ..what ios everyone elses experience ?? dont want to miss out on the grant ..:wubclub:

    Hi,

you may also have to take into account the time it takes to get a PR visa granted, it can take quite a while, if house prices are going up it may not be worth waiting for, if there not it will be worth the wait.

Agree with Simon. We applied for pr beginning of Sept. Immigration quoted 10 - 12 months to get pr from application date (sponsored visas to pr take priority) we are on 495 to 887. Saying that though BSPC have caught up slightly and now are already up to the 15th August 2008. So hopefully will be more like 6 months by the time we get it. Has been on 15th August the last four weeks though.
