Hello

I know there are many teachers on their way (rightly so!) and thought you may be interested in how long it has taken from beginning to end.

We took all our certificates to them on 7th May (I remember it was Monday). We paid for both the assessment of Qualifications and registration at the same time. We took the mandatory Child Protection course certificate on Monday 28th (we completed the course on Saturday 26th May, the earliest we could a place) and received our certificates today!

Now I would like to say not to please assume that this is how long it takes for everyone...we were expecting alot longer and I thought it would take 6-10 weeks. I am chuffed though.

Now we are taking all the documents off to the agency that specialises in finding jobs and relief work for the private schools and religious schools. Friday is an INSET day adn Monday is a bank holiday so the earliest I can be working in Tuesday and she thinks I will be!!!!

Well done Libby, I am chuffed for you. It wasn't so easy for me though - just my luck!

I did the First Aid and Child Mandatory training quite quickly and had my skills assessed in the UK but it still took me about 6 weeks to get my TRB Certificate. Then I had to go to DECS and get an authority to TRT which took about a week. Then I had to go to the cluster groups to register for TRT. Then I realised I couldn't work in a Catholic school as my Police Certificate was over 6 months old so I had to get a new one from the UK - but the CEO were really quick to issue my authority to teach in a Catholic school once I got it to them. However, I can happily report that I managed to get a part time contract job (in amongst all this confusion) at a school and I am loving it. Are all the obnoxious acronyms annoying anyone as yet?

By the way Libby can I have the name of that agency so as I can register with them as I am unemployed as of Term 3!

Donna.

took us 12 weeks to have our skills recognised by the trb from within the uk !!!

until then i have a few hundred reports loads of cricket/athletics fixtures and the inevitable leaving speech to a staff room half of which aint ever said good morning in 14 years at the school - so it will be a very brief speech - too many depressed old timers at my school - which happens to be a superb state school and is hard to be leaving...wot av i done

were snookered if one of us aint got a contract for january new academic year

its our big worry - failing that ill av to apply to be on big brother

Hellooo

Lisa, I am gutted that my holiday is almost over. Looking forward to the weekend, I will call you tomorrow.

Muppetbro, I didn't talk to the staffroom. 5 years and people who had not said a word to me since they or I started suddenly started to be chatty and ask what I thought Adelaide was like, would I be having a large house, was I expecting people to visit us. I said I had no idea and yes, yes. And then went to talk to people that I did like.

I haven't done the medical course yet but I do plan to. Certainly it makes sense to have as many options as possible.

We need to be working as soon as possible. Our last date for working was 16th April and I need a job to buy the rest of the furniture. I hope to have some sort of job for term 3 which starts mid/ late July and relief teaching until then.

The agency is Switch Educational Recruitment. They are up on Greenhill Road, really lovely people. We saw a lady called Claire Hamilton.

Fingers crossed for us all!
