    Hi

We are hopfully going to be moving sometime this year. Depending on visas etc. Just wondered what you think about renting with dogs. We have one greyhound. It seems it is easier to rent with pets a little south e.g Aldinga , Mount Baker etc. Do you know of any rentals that take dogs or any links thanks.

    G'day.

We were very lucky and got a rental that allows both of our dogs (inside) with residential lettings http://www.residentialletting.com.au . Most places dont allow dogs and if they do there supose to be kept outside. Residential lettings are based in Hallet cove and deal with a lot of brits coming over so it is worth giving them a bell.

I would say look around Christies beach area as there is a great dog friendly beach where you can let them realy run with out no-worries.

I've rented four houses here and never had a problem with having my animals in them, although it is not down to the managing agent to stipulate if you can have a pet or not, it is the owners decision. I have rented through Residential Letting at Hallett Cove and whilst we could have our dog it most definitely was not allowed inside the house.

Where we live now we took photos of our dog to the 'open' and had previously emailed the agent about her. We also brought the dog along to meet the agent before we moved in, and she is quite happy for the dog to be inside.

If you rent with a dog most agents write it into the lease, together with any conditions applicable, name and type of dog etc, and they usually want the dogs council registration number recorded on the application form.

We are living in the northern suburbs. We brought our greyhound over a year ago and had difficulty trying to find a rental that would allow him to live indoors. Many rentals were no pets full stop. Some were negotiable but when we asked it was small pets only. A few said maybe a small dog indoors but not a big dog.

We got lucky in the end as a family friend put us on to someone we had met on a previous holiday and they had no problem with our hound. We offered to increase the bond if necessary but they were ok with it anyway.

Greyhounds are lazy and one of the least "chewy" breeds of dog going and we did not expect the difficulties we had finding somewhere.

Many people here find it strange to have dogs indoors whereas to us he's part of the family. Maybe it's the climate so they feel dogs are ok outside. Our hound struggled a bit outside in the heatwave last year during his month's quarantine. We rented a house down at Port Elliott for a short holiday last month and they had no problem with him at all.

There is an advert in the Advertiser headed 'Pets OK' which has 100s of rentals, its www.selectrentals.com.au I don't know whether the properties or the agency is any good, just arrived and noticed it in the paper.

It's not easy if you have pets of any kind, but they are about and as said previously the contract will state name, breed and it is OUTSIDE as stated on the contract. Our landlord agreed to our and we said she would be allowed indoors but the actual contract still States outside only.

A photo of the pet and if possible a ref from a friend or previous rental not just for yourself but also for the pet.

Good luck with all your plans.
