upcoming citizenship ceremonies

Ok Marion's is on the 2nd April, do any of your councils have one in March. Although daughter has 6 weeks post 31st March to change status at Uni, if she is not a citizen by census date ...31 March we will have to fork out for 1st semester and then wait to get it back I think.

This is one of the reasons we got citizenship ASAP. Despite all the research we did ( pretty extensive) we were under the impression a PR got the same rules/fees as citizen. Not so.

As a PR you dont get the HECS ( student loan) loan, and you have to pay up front. If you pay fees upfront as a citizen you get 20% off............not as PR.

Look again , and double check with more than one person whether you will get money back..........very grey area!. We got very conflicting advise at Uni open days , and other info sessions.

Try Onkaparinga council regarding ceremonies , they were very helpful to us, if not , if time is the essence ,ring all councils. A few council phone calls may save a lot of dosh. You may be given a spot somewhere.Marioncouncil dont do them too often.

    cheers

You wont get it back, we didnt, although we only had to pay part of the year, as Smit said we got very conflicting info from the Uni.
