Tiling - regrouting vs staining

Hi there just wondered if anyone had any experience of restaining grout. We have just moved into our new house and I have realised that the grout colour I chose in the family room was perhaps not the best, it'll drive me mad and in turn I'll drive my hubby mad so best to sort it before I'm locked away/murdered! Should we stain or regrout. Any help would be appreciated or ideas of anyone who could give us a quote for regrouting??

Awaiting your responses

You could use a grout marker/pen too go over the grout but it won't look very proffesional. In my opinion you would be best too dig out all the grout(you can buy a specialist tool for this) and regrout in your chosen colour, usually grey for a room with plenty of foot traffic.Always use a good quality grout as it does make a big difference.PM me if you need any more advice.

Hi, I hope this helps. My hubby is a wall and floor tiler unfortunately we are not going to get out to Adelaide for probably another 8 months or so, so unfortunately unless we do a rekky he cannot do it for you yet. That said, he has said it depends on the colour of the grout and the grout wanted then I had a really complicated answer which I won't bore you with but basically the best option is to re-grout it. He said you scrape out a couple hundred mm (dependant upon how deep it is) and clean up any colours from around the tiles edge, then re-grout it with a fairly soft/watery grout in the chosen colour you require. He said if it was him doing it (it is a crappy job) but would take him a few days a day or so cleaning out the grouting and cleaning up area, then re-grouting it. I hope this helps you. Good luck.
