Alternative to Bramley Apples?

Used Granny Smiths to make a crumble tonight and it is just not the same! Can you actually get Bramley apples here? Haven't seen any and I have been looking. Apple crumble is a big fave in our house - anyone have a solution?

No no bramley apples for you here. Most people use Granny smiths for cooking, but you have tried that so......

My daughter loves cooking apple crumble, we use ordinary hard green apples, sorry don't know the name, but still taste's great..

There are Bramley apples because I saw a website for them a guy at Adelaide University had written a disertation on I believe on them. I believe there is an applie association in South Australia, so many different apples are grown here, would seem to me I would try calling Urbrae College or Roseworthy, they may be able to put you in the right direction and who knows you may start a new following for someone who has an apple that has been struggling to get out there here in Oz.
