hi guys

wandered if anyone has experience or knowledge of shipping car and belongings together. am aware of expense to ship car (hubby's pride and joy) and thought i may of heard that you can fit car in 20ft container and fit belongings around the car. does anyone know of this and rough cost of how much this would be. would be nice for the kids to get there bits nad pieces once we have arrived, just need to see now if we can afford it. any info would be greatfully recieved.

Thanks

Hi

We didn't ship the car but dealt with Crown and they were fantastic. Give them a call. Know what you men about the kids having their own stuff that was important to us too, however timing can be difficult and I remember the 8 weeks on camping chairs and blow up beds only too well! Good luck.

Hi.

We shipped our car and belongings in the same 20ft container. Car goes in first and is seperated from belongings via wooden partitions. There's no extra cost for this as you pay for the container itself and its up to you what you put in it (within reason). ;)

There is however a whole load of rules and regs to be aware of before you load the car on, some more to get it out of the bonded warehouse when the container gets here, and more before you get it on the road. Your belongings are released seperately.

This link gives a good detailed description of all involved. Although it relates to bringing a vehicle into Victoria, most of the costs and procedures are the same for SA.

If its hubby's pride and joy it will be worth it. Although there's alot of paperwork, cost and a good bit of planning involved we would do it again - no doubt.

Good Luck
