I believe schools will not consider you international on 489, but check with the school.

Any 489 applicants on here, eoi applied 6/1, eoi granted 25/2 visa applied 26/2, meds and all Doc's submitted 26/3.

Just to close this thread down.  We applied for our evisitor Visa a week before we flew (processing time supposedly 1-3 days) however when these had not come through 2 days before our flight, we applied for Electronic travel authority through trailfinders, these came through in 24 hours, so we could travel. The evisitor Visas were declined 2 days after we arrived because they have to be applied for outside Australia and we had entered 2 days before!

BigZ, what visa have you secured?

We are currently awaiting our 489 visa decision, but are visiting on an evisitor in July. If the visa decision comes through whilst we are in Oz, does anyone know if we can just get it validated or would we need to leave and re-enter?

Anyone got any experience of ING?

We are coming over in July and wondered what everyone suggest in terms of a good bank. It seems in Oz there isn't a common ATM network, is that an issue? 

Is it recommended to avoid north facing houses, so as to minimise the heat impact on the property?

C'est la vie I guess. Hopefully a little more expense is worth it and we'll be over in the new year after tedious visa wait:smile:

Does anyone know why, having paid and had qualifications assessed by ACECQA(Australian Children's Education Quality Care Authority) for state nominated visa as a teacher, you have to have pay again and have them reassessed by TRB(Teachers Registration Board) before you can work?

We going to come to Adelaide at the back end of the year and want to do some budgeting. Is anyone aware of a website which will compare prices between UK and Australia? Alternatively, what are the typical cost for things like electricity, gas, council charges, fuel, insurancestandard food items eg milk, meat, veg etc....
