We have a 2 storey house that has a bedroom, bathroom and lounge downstairs that we let out occasionally to help people out for a few weeks. We are in Port noarlunga.

thanks for that.please keep us posted of any more interest, the gig is still not deffo yet as my mate has to create enough interest for the promoter

If you remember the band from the 70's/80's in the UK called The Jam then this could be of interest to you!Original bass player Bruce Foxten formed a band called "From The Jam" to bring back to life the former band's music. They are touring Autralia but had not secured a gig in South Australia.Thankfully an avid fan and close friend of ours has been in touch with the tour manager and has preliminarily booked the Gov at Hindmarsh on Wednesday 6th Feb 2013.In order for this to happen we are trying to gather feedback as to how many people would be interested in going to see them.We saw them in the UK a few years back and they were fantastic!!If you may be interested you can go to their facebook page and comment or like it or please let us know and we can pass any thoughts on.Thanks in advance Jam fans!!!

Hi Sharon,I work for a large Ford dealer in Adelaide and the company we use for finance is St.George but I know they are asking for quite large deposits for the newbies here with no Australian credit rating but I am told the rates are very competitive.Sharon.x:eek:

We have been here just over a year and had to take our Maisie to the vet because she had an ulcer on her eye.We got charged so much and we will have to take her back a few times we were wondering if anyone can recommend a decent company for pet insurance for the future.

Hi Charl,we used a company called Ambler Collins. It is an Australian guy who owns it and they have been around for at least 14 years when my hubby first got his visa. They have an office in London.Good luck.Sharon:biggrin:

Well you have got me thinking now and it's driving me mad!!!I can't remember the cost of things in the UK.I guess it's not so much of a bad thing because when you first get here you are constantly comparing things.Something will pop in my head though and when it does I will let you know.

We have just had our 1 year anniversary since we arrived, and what a year it has been!I met my husband when he was back from Australia on a residents return visa. His first words were...I live in Australia. My first thoughts were....well this will be a fling because I don't want to live there!Shortly later he sold his house in Victoria and said he would stay in the UK for me.3 years later we both lost our great jobs within 2 months of eachother so I said go on then,I will give it a go.we arrived here with just 2 weeks left on his return visa with plans to live in Glenelg.I hated him for 3 months for bringing me here.I had never felt so lonely. It was like you were grieving for a loss of someone. We had ended up in an eco tent at West Beach camp site as all the rentals were full with it being so close to Christmas.Mick had said we wouldn't need a hire car as from what he remembered of being there in 1999 everything was within walking distance or easily done on the bus. When you are jet lagged, tired and constantly crying everything seems so hard.I remember doing our first food shop at Woolworths in Glenelg and we had too many bags to get on the bus.Mick went to get us a taxi and it took him an hour.I just layed down on the floor in the car park and sobbed! After about 10 days a kind soul on here took us into their spare room in Port Noarlunga[which I found so pretty compared to were we were ]and soon after this we got our long term rental on the esplanade at Moana.Hubby has been in work since we got here after getting chatting to someone who owns a building company and he loves it and they love him.I am about to start my fourth job in January after all kind of work place issues which I won't go into too much detail but I was bullied in one of my jobs.Since we have been here we have lost Mick's step dad of 30 years and my Mum has had cancer in one of her kidneys. There is no doubt that it is the hardest thing I have ever done but I have no regrets now.I think it just takes time and if my new job works out life will now feel very close to perfect .

There is a company that have 2 gorgeous yellow Kombi vans but I can't think of their name!Aghhh! One takes the bride and groom and the other takes the guests. We have seen them around the Port Noarlunga area and I have told Mick If he wants a divorce then that's fine so we can get re-married and have the Kombi van's next time!!!!1

Buying and selling cars - Is it doable here?

I have worked in car sales at a dealership for 4 years and the trade has always been steady with about 45 sales per month and plenty of profit in each sale too.I have often thought about opening my own small car yard but it's finding the right spot of land that's the problem!
Cheers Sharon
