Going home...How to end 457 visa

We have decided to go back to England and are currently 18 months into 4 year 457 visa. Can I return to UK without any penalties? Thanks

You need to contact www.immi.gov.au for advice.

A quick look suggests all you need to do is leave the country within 28 days of termination of your employment,

It might depend on what relocation assistance you were given in the first place by your sponsoring company - did they pay for your flight out here, or temporary accommodation on arrival, or your shipping costs? You presumably signed a contract so would be worth checking if you signed to commit to repaying any of their costs back if you terminate your contract early.

Hi Diane,

The sponsoring company never paid for anything other than their part of the visa. We paid for our visa, flights, accomodation and shipping costs out of our own pocket. As for the contract, I had a look and it's just a basic contract of employment

MAke sure you have a job to come back to here in the UK before you burn any bridges.
