Don't get me wrong, steeling and burning out a car is awful but tbh, it is doubtful that the culprits would have known that the owner was sick. It is s**t whoever the owners were

I think the maximum sentence for car theft is 10 years, and the same for arson is usually life. I expect whoever did this will get no more than 2 or 3 years, so it goes on.
