This will be my first here in Adelaide! Ian has ordered a lamb and a spit for it to go on. Apparently we need to start cooking it around 1pm ready for the night!!!:swoon:I guess thats they guys job to look after the BBQ then.

We've invited a few friends and their kids around and having a bit of a pool party as well. Should be fun!!!

So, what are you guys doing for New Year???

Hi Judi and Co, and all other PIA members

We will be going to my Old Local Pub and meeting up with many of our friends for one last English new years bash.

A 60 mile round trip with the heating on full blast in the car all the way, not to forget the coats, and woolie hats! (Oh come on Summer)

Have a great time everybody.

Hi Martin and Val,

We see from your thread about New year's Eve that you have two dogs. Will you be taking them to Oz? Have you looked in to all the details. We too have a dog (Ozzie, a little Bichon Frise, 1 year old) and am now investigating what we have to do to get him over there. The thought of the long flight and quarantine period worries us a little as it will be a bit of a step change for him. We are just about to lodge our visa application in the next few weeks via our solicitor in Adelaide, so hopefully wont have too much longer to wait. Medicals all done and just waiting for police checks. Please let us know your feelings.

Regards

Hi Barbara and Kevin,

Yes we will be taking our two dogs with us, they need to spend 30 days in quarantine. The flight is a worry but looking at others who have gone through this, all seems to have gone well.

We haven't done anything as yet about the dogs but list below a few links that my help you:

Many years ago we had a beautiful little Bichon Frise, powder puff on legs such a little tart she was!

Hope it all goes well, if we can answer anymore questions please ask.

Happy new year

:)Happy New Year Everyone :)

Since hubby introduced a 3rd member to our family - Max, we won't be out to long, so we are planning a trip up to Elder Park with friends & then back for drinks.

A pool party sounds like a good idea to.

Best Wishes for 2008

We are at home in Nottingham, looking out on our BBQ, which isn't covered and so has become a pool of sorts, especially for the local sparrows and robins!!!!

Will be cracking open a few bottles of Grolsch and looking forward to next year, when hopefully one of you guys with a pool will be able to find a Matt and Traci shaped space!!

Just been driving around visiting friends in the West Country over thelast few days, and it was my first experience of saying goodbye to anyone, ooh, not a good feeling. Don't want to spend a lot of time doing that over the next 4 months!

Hope everyone has a fantastic New Years Eve, and we really can't wait to join you all on the sunny side.

Love

Hi Martin & Val

Thanks for the info, will certainly look into that now. Have noticed that there is a get together in Crawley on the 12 th January, if interested look in the Socialising and Get together section for more details.

Yes our Bichon called Ozzie is a beautiful ball of fluff and yes he is very cheeky, but gorgeous. Such a companion to us. Still a little worried about his journey and quarantine but will just have to get on with it really. Will still worry after him though.

Where do you intend to live once in Adelaide? We hope to settle in the Glenelg are or there abouts, near the beach anyway. Kevin has a job to go to and the company are putting us up in rented accomodaiton for 3 months sowe will have time to look around.

Happy New Year to you!!!!

Babz & Kevin:)

Our friends took her two elderly overweight dogs to Adelaide last year.

It cost approx 3000 pounds for both, and that included everything from vets bills, Airpets costs, flights, quarantine costs (30 days at Melbourne) and fees with Jetpets (an aussie based company) who flew the dogs from Melbourne to Adelaide, and delivered them to the door.

The dogs were so well looked after. Now the dogs go for a walk on the beach every day, they have both lost weight and its seems to have given the old dogs a new boost of life.

Hope this gives you some piece of mind. We looked into our dog traveling over but had to have the dog put to sleep a few months ago.

So when we go to live in Australia we will also be looking for a new dog.

Hi Lyn

Thank you so much for your reply, and yes it has certainly made us feel a little better about Ozzie travelling. The alternative is to leave him here and I don't think we could do that. I am sure he will cope, may not like the whole experience but worth it in the end.

Thanks again Lyn and good luck
