Does anyone have any information on what opportunities there are for further education/study/work placement for the study of childcare ?? We are looking to move to Adelaide in August 09, when Megan (our daughter) has completed her GCSEs. She wants to continue her studies in childcare and would have gone onto College in the UK.... However, I have looked at colleges etc around Adelaide and cannot find any information on Childcare courses or how this vocation is normally progressed after GCSE level.

If anyone could help I would really appreciate it........

Your daughter would have to study at Tafe, something like this http://www.vlepub.sa.edu.au/xml/profiles/Profile_OCC120.aspx if she then wished to study further and get a university degree in Early childhood education which can be used to work as a kindergarten teacher or teach the under 8s she could use these Tafe qualifications to transfer into a University degree without having to back to school and do yr 12.

TAFE is the likeliest option - public provider of further ed. See www.tafe.sa.edu.au ... for list of campuses offering this type of course. It might be a bit difficult for you to choose which one if you don't know where you will live but most are accessible through public transport

Applications usually taken twice yearly - start in Feb and July - if she's an 'international' student - ie: you don't have PR then click on that bit on the website for the contact details of the International Students Unit

Good luck. Jo
