Mining Job? Any advice please.

Hi my husband is hoping to get a job in the mines. He has worked since he was 16. Never been out of work. Roofer by trade and worked for Rio Tinto. So has been in heavy industry. He has lots of maintenance experience and can put his hand to anything. Any recommendations please? Would like something more secure that what he has at the moment. Where to apply. Which is the best company? He is 48 years old. Will he be taken on at this age as a hard worker? Thank you.

Thank you. Yes we have lived here a few years. He has all sorts of experience in bobcats, forklifts, frontloaders etc, but all the in UK so has no certificates here for that :-(

You say you have lived here a few years. Do you mean in Adelaide or in Australia? Has your husband worked for Rio Tinto in Australia? Getting into mining is extremely competitive and may be harder at the moment with some expansion plans on hold.
