  1. Hi everyone Mum is currently on a bridging visa (Bridging Visa A) whilst waiting to join the queue for an 804 visa. I was just wondering if mum was expected to complete a tax return whilst waiting for her visa to be granted (which apparently could be many years!) Mum is retired, doesn't work, hasn't applied for a Tax File Number and has no intention of working! Can anyone please advise as to whether the tax return is something that is needed or not? Many thanks in advance.
  2. Hi, thanks for info. I guess we will just have to sit and wait... and keep everything crossed that mum stays in good health for when it is her turn!
  3. Can anyone help with the above questions?! Many thanks
  4. As mentioned, mum got her bridging visa granted last month We are now just wondering what the next step in the process is... is it still the case that mum will undergo a medical in approx 12 months time and, after passing the medical, will be placed in the 'real' queue... for however many years it takes to get to her application?! If the above is the case, and just so I am prepared, what is the situation if mum failed her medical in 12 months time? She is absolutely fine and in excellent health at the moment (touch wood) but I like to keep myself prepared for all eventualities! Huge thanks for any advice.
  5. Hi Alan Many thanks for your reply. We lodged it at the Adelaide office as the forms said we could! Despite all the stress of the last week, I'm pleased to say it came good and mum was granted her BV yesterday
  6. Hi, thanks for your reply. I will have a look on pomsinoz in the hope of finding an answer! It's all so stressful!
  7. So, after calling immigration, it seems I have managed to get an idea of how long it takes to put the bridging visa in place. My added worry now though is that we lodged mum's application in Adelaide... and the email I got from immigration says everything must be lodged in Perth! (despite the immigration forms saying it can be lodged at any local immigration office!) Does anyone know if a) the application will still be valid even though lodged at Adelaide office and b) if so, does this slow the process down hugely? The application was deposited in the lodgement box in Adelaide but apparently no receipts are given... and we just have to sit with everything crossed (
  8. Hi We lodged an onshore Parent Visa application (804) on Friday... does anyone know how long it takes before you get an acknowledgement and get to know if a bridging visa will be granted? Mum is due to go home in 3 weeks, we are hoping its before then! Many thanks in advance for any advice

    Diabetics

It all depends on your control! From my experience, with good HbA1c control, it posed me no problems. I did, however, find that my experience of the diabetes care in Australia did not compare to the care I recieved on the NHS! I found myself emailing my specialist nurse in England on a frequent basis to get the help I needed. Good luck )
  10. Thank you... I'll check them all out
  11. Does anyone know of any UK car insurance companies that will recognise the 4 years no claims bonus that I have build up in Australia? Many thanks for any suggestions
  12. Hi, She lives in Wayville (near Hyde Park) Not far from the tram if that is any help!
  13. A friend has a range of kids clothes both girls and boys from newborn to size/age 7. All in good condition. Also Steelcraft portable cot with extra foam mattress, Emmaljunga pram and basinette attachment and a Peg Perago high chair. All in excellent condition. All offers considered. My friend (Caroline) can be contacted directly on 0405 632145
  14. Was looking for $15 for the throw. Sorry, I can't seem to find it on the Ikea website but it is a pinky/maroon on one side and a purple colour on the other. As for the quilt, it is a couple of years old but has spent most of its time in storage as it was only used when my mum was visiting. Again, not sure of the warmth rate but the filling weight is 60oz... looking on the ikea website this seems to equate to a warmth rating of about 5 ish? Was thinking $30. Lastly the coffee table.... $50. Cheers

    Money!

Thanks for the info.... and do we think I am better changing it all at once rather than send home the money I owe in advance?
