  1. Hi Are there any girls/ladies interested in wanting to try indoor cricket? I am the state coach for the U18 girls team for last year, and this year and we are always on the look out for talent within cricket, or indoor cricket, to play for their state. It will involve numerous training sessions from Feb to July and a week away in Brisbane. The down side is that it is self funded (but you can get local government grants - and we are applying to a number of large businesses to sponsor) but the rewards of such a fun, friendly, competitive and out-way the costs with friendships formed between many of the girls from other states that last years. BUT, there is a come and try evening planned for the 13th February at the Stepney Indoor Cricket Arena (ICA) where you will have the chance to meet the state coaches, state players and some of the Australian team and get to spend time with all in a skills and game training session to see if this is something you would like to become involved with. Its a great way to get to meet other individuals both as a player and for mums and dads, we have met so many wonderful people through indoor cricket and our daughter now has friends from all the states. If state levels is not your thing, then still come along and try as there is a weekly competition held within Adelaide throughout the winter months, again enabling you to meet new people and increase your networking opportunities. Feel free to get in touch to ask any questions if this is of any interest to you or your daughters. if you know of any boys this might be of interest to, please contact me and i can pass on your details to the right person come and try.pdf
  2. Hi, we have a dog transport box, as used to fly her over from the UK no longer needed as we have no intention of returning to the UK. It was purpose built for her size (Black Lab) with caged floor and still has original covers and matting as she didn't soil it (poor girl must have been bursting when she arrived at quarantine) About to move home so dont want to move it AGAIN. feel free to make me an offer.
  3. we would be interested and can collect if still available?
  4. i would be very interested as we have been looking for one for our camping trips, but cannot find one in country.
  5. Hi. How high and deep are the insides of the unit. i am looking for something to house filters and other electronic stuff but need to know the internal clearance. Thanks
  6. hi, what are the external dimensions of the base cabinet please?
  7. To finally update you on this. after initially contacting the family with many offers of assistance in furniture items (who did seem very grateful initially), i tried and tried to contact them again to arrange a convenient time to deliver any items. my emails and answer messages went unanswered for many weeks before finally my phonecall was answered. i received what i can only explain as an ungrateful response of "Oh, you mean to tell me the mattresses are not new" and "i dont want others rubbish" so i left it at that. several weeks later i received a bizarre text asking if i could drop off the furniture and mattresses asap, which i have to admit i did not, as i had disposed of the items i had saved because of their lack of responses and attitudes. i guess they may have had a better offer. thanks for those that offered to help, sorry i was tardy in my responses, i felt embarrassed by their lack of appreciation.
  8. What I find somewhat strange and irresponsible is how you come on a thread where all I have done is ask if anyone had any household items they no longer need to slag someone who you neither know or have met and judge her and her family. Her only crimes in your opinion is she has children and didn't have insurance. Ever thought she might have wanted 5 kids? Another example of how some are all too quick to judge others without knowing the full story. Neither her nor her family have asked for any handouts I simply offered my bed and asked others if they wanted to do the same.
  9. Thank you all very much for your kind words and offerings. i tried to contact the family last night but could only leave a messgae with their younger son. i am expecting a call from them today so i will let you know.
  10. If you didn’t see the news at the weekend, a young family’s home in Christie Downs was completely gutted after some tosser had set fire to an old mattress by their house. Thankfully they all survived with the exception of the family cat, they have lost everything they did own – I really feel for the poor sods. They didn't appear to be a well off family and have 3 young kids and a baby, all currently living with granny. We have just purchased a new bed for our daughter and was about to ditch the old one even though there is nothing actually wrong it but thought this poor family might really appreciate it, even though a small guesture. I have contacted the MFS and the family will accpt donations if possible but dont feel comfortable asking, so if you have any old bits of furniture or household items you think might come in handy for this poor family let me know so I can pass it on to them – if transport is an issue, I can collect and drop off. They have been allocated a new home from next week so are desperate.
  11. Would it be possible if this could also be posted on the youngster’sarea? Since arriving two years ago our daughter has loved playing both forms ofcricket Australia has to offer, outdoor during summer where she plays for ourlocal side and I coach. During the winter she plays indoor at both super leagueand state level and absolutely loves it. With the indoor she plays for the under 17 girl’s team and have just returnedfrom a great week away in New South Wales. She has met and made some fantasticfriends through both forms, but more so the indoor with girls her age. So muchso is the relationships they build with the other teams they all cannot waitfor the next interstate competition. Sadly the girls side of things is not very well supported, or well known, somuch so they will struggle to have an under 17s team next year as the majorityof this year’s team will be too old and there are no younger ones snapping at their heels. So if the thought of playing a fast, physically demanding, extremely rewardingsport of indoor cricket (I know many will think cricket is boring, please lookon YouTube and search indoor cricket it certainly is not boring), in fact itsvery fast with all players needing lightening reactions to become successful. What better way of meeting new people and building relationships with others thatwill last for years, through involvment you will get to meet many stars in cricket from local state heroesto Australian players in all ranges of age groups, so please get involved. If this is even remotely of interest to anyone let me know, there are superleague games played every weekend at various Indoor Cricket Arenas (ICAs) whereyou could come and watch the girls/ladies teams compete and see for yourself, make your own mind up withoutany cost or pressure. If this is something that would be of interest to you letme know, I can tell you when the next games locally to you are, and maybe youcould be playing for the South Australian Spiders at the nationals next yearand if you wish i could talk you though whats going on, but also feel free to remain anonomous so you will have no pressure to get involved. (dates and venue for next years nationals to be released in the next two weeks) Honestly anyone with theslightest interest in sport and fitness will love indoor cricket. This video was filmed at the state junior nationals held earlier this month. TheSouth Australians are in the Red spiders strip.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd5DNl3t8rk and was filmed bycricket Australia. There are various age groups at national levels Girls Under 17s Under 20s Over 35s Opens Masters Boys Under 13 Under 15 Under 17 Under 20 Under 23 Over 35s Opens Masters

  13. Foxychick and anyone else interested - I emailed SA water and have received the following reply.Thank you for your email. The Kauwi Centre is open for all the public, and not only for school visits. We can accommodate groups and individuals any day/evening during the week as well as Saturdays. We can also take people on guided bus tours of the site, or a guided walk to view the plant from two lookouts. Tours are subject to times/days, number of attendees and weather. All sessions will need to be booked in however, and I have attached a booking form for you should you wish to do this.So if anyone is interested please drop me a pm with your email address and i will forward on their booking form, unless there is a way to insert it somewhere on this forum for anyone to use?
  14. That's a shame, it was very interesting and informative. During our visit they did say they would occasionally open the centre for the general public, we were asked our opinions and as a group we understood that due to their location and their business it was not somewhere people would turn up in large number daily and suggested maybe one day a month/or every other month, or special opening days on public holidays, this they did advise would be possible. I will do some digging around in my contacts and see if the idea/proposal ever grew legs and when (if ever) they will open it to the general public, I would take my family. It would seem shameful for such a facility not to be available to all after so much was spent and ultimately who actually paid for it, I also learnt more about the local indigenous population and their history as its been incorporated in the design and surroundings.
  15. maybe you should attend the Desal visitor centre before trying to apportion any blame onto them and view the readings in an around the exit of this "brine" and see what effects this has had upon the local marine life. http://www.sawater.com.au/SAWater/WhatsNew/MajorProjects/ADP_Community.htm i will no doubt that any records/data that is maintained here will be made publically available through a number of opportunities so still cannot get how many came to the conclusion they are in some way to blame. And i know it is so tightly checked and re-checks by independant sourses that there is in no way these recordings and be falsified. Plus it is certainly producing more good to the environment than what used to be there.
