  1. An amazing opportunity to live a two minute walk from Henley beach. Just in time for next summer. We have just bought a property so are regretfully moving out of the area. Check it out, it's great for entertaining as it even has a rumpus room with a bar!! http://www.eliterentals.com.au/property/122-halsey-road-henley-beach-south/
  2. Hi mate, I was in the same position but managed to get work after only a month of being here. there are loads of plumbing firms around, you just have to research and call around, i have found that they are keen to take on uk plumbers because they know they can go out and do a decent job, the only problem is you will be on apprentice wage until you get your level 3. It is win win for the employer you just have to work hard and try and do everything you can to get signed off as quickly as possible, do not trust the trade schools to do this for you, I havent had a good experience with mine, make sure you manage yourself and keep track of all units you have done. hope this helps
  3. Hi just wondering how long and how much it cost fully qualified plumbers from the uk to complete their cert 3 over here? Also can anyone recommend Peer as a decent place to do their training? I am currently with training prospects, I was told they were decent, I have been signed up since January only did my RPL in July and still havent even got a timetable, I have rang several of the guys there countless times and they fob me off every time, I know other plumbers who have had the same trouble with them to. they tell anything you want to hear to get you off the phone then forget about you. I also heard from plumbers on here tafe was like this to, so that leaves peer. Any info would be great. cheers
  4. Hi Trevor, thanks for the message, do you know the name of the place as I work down that way and could be handy to have a look. cheers
  5. Hi Kevscotoz, Thanks a lot for the advice, looks like Ive got a long road ahead of me, just have to get my head down and get on with it. Will definitely take on board what you have said. all the best cheers.
  6. Just wondered if there's anyone on here having the same problems as me in getting someone to give a **** at the college they are trying to get there plumbing licence at. Been here almost a year now, fully qualified plumber in the uk, was lucky enough to get a job with a plumbing firm, downsides are I am doing everything that the guys on 30 dollars an hour are doing yet i am on 15 because I am classed as an apprentice, I have been signed up to the trade school I am trying to do my RPL and get my licence at since january but still havent even had my timetable yet, basically they all keep telling me different things and no one cares, and while this is going on my boss is laughing all the way to the bank, getting very disheartened about it all and just wondered if anyone can tell me a trade school they went to which were actually good, wont mention the one im at at the moment, but the one I am at was supposed to be one of the better ones. Any advice from anyone will be amazing, sorry for the rant, just extremely frustrated

  11. Hiya mate, i am currently in the process of gaining my cert three, I had level 3 nvq and gas safe back in the uk, i have to see craig andrews from training prospects about my RPL then hopefully i can get the ball rolling. They told me it should take 6 months for me to complete my level 3 on the technical side but my employer has said 18 months for the on the job side. I spoke to someone from OCBA though and they told me it will take another two years to gain my cert 4 after i get my cert 3, does this sound right to you? its all a bit up in the air and confusing. any info would be great thanks a lot, si
  12. Hi Northy, I spoke to a plumbing training accessor today and asked him the same question. He said it's because of the water over here, apparently it has stuff in it that corrodes the soft solder. not sure how it can do that and be safe for drinking but oh well, hope this helps.
  13. Hiya Lorraine, Thanks a lot for your message, really appreciate it, I will ring tommorrow and let you know how it went.
