  1. I personally have found visiting the UK to be totally different to living there. When you are on holiday everyone makes a huge effort because they don't know when they will next see you. Given your age have you considered a gap year? Perhaps get on Skype with the friend you have and plan it together spend some time here some time there and see how you feel about day to day life living working etc once you are there. If you love it apply for uni and stay through uni if not come back and do uni here. Either way sounds like you have family and support in both countries which will be important.
  2. I chipped a tooth a few months back which had already been filled on the NHS. I have had bad dental experiences in the past so honestly had avoided going here until this happened. My dentist did X-rays then started removing the old filling to replace with a nice white one. Once he removed it he stopped and told me there was something under the filling which he couldn't identify and more shockingly it wasn't the worst he had seen under an NHS filling! As a result I was at risk of having huge issues and potentially losing that tooth as they had created a ticking time bomb. He treated it and put in a temporary filling. After that and knowing I had bad dental work I decided to remove all my NHS fillings and replace with white ones. And after that was done at he last appt the dentist went back to the original problem tooth to fix it permanently. All in this cost about $1000 for 6 filling replacements, hygienist appointment and one of the fillings has had to be prepped to potentially crown in future. With my extras cover I paid about $300. It isn't cheap here but...I would rather have the work done here than the UK I actually feel more confident going to the dentist here now although still nervous they are a million times better than UK. In the past fillings have been extremely painful for me as I was never fully numb and always complained (and got called a liar) here they accept it when I say I'm not numb and either wait or give me another injection. with medibank I get one free checkup/hygienist visit per year of I go for a second check up in a year I get 70% back from medibank.

  4. Between $63 and $88 dollars according to http://www.taxifare.com.au this is based on travel being now so I suggest you put your arrival and departure times in to get a better idea as traffic can affect the fare
  5. Hi Have you tried Kombis4u? http://Www.kombis4u.com.au We are also getting married next summer and contacted them last night but not available on our date
  6. I bought a car on finance with a $500 deposit. Although I bought a much smaller car than what u want (ford fiesta) I got the car after working in a permanent job for a month and 3 weeks prior of a temp job so I had some proof of income. The dealers did "build in a deposit" for me to make the finance work which although never confirmed to me sounds like they made it look like I bought a bigger more expensive car. Most of the staff at the dealership had emigrated themselves so knew how frustrating it could be and were happy to help.
  7. Hi Sian I have recently been asking the same sort of questions, I have just got back into riding a few weeks ago and had a couple of lessons. Of you search on here for horses the posts are old but still useful. I just googled away looked at reviews etc to find a place for lessons. I'm not sure about clubs, I have only had 2 lessons since being in Adelaide and thinking of trying a different place. The places I thought looked best for riding are in belair and hahndorf (still to try) I have seen show jumping a few times along tapleys hill road just south of the airport but I read something recently about that particular club no longer being there not sure if they stopped all together or moved. But I would start by going to a riding school near to you and perhaps also enquire in a saddlery, bonnetts seem to be very good and knowledgeable. From what I can tell with clubs etc its very simulate to how it is in the UK great if you own a horse, if not you can watch!
  8. I am also on micronor, apparently it is common to have regular periods for the first 2 months (I'm going to count it as 3 as my first didn't come for a month and being on cerazette I wasn't on a period when I started taking micronor) and then most people don't get periods at all, if I think back to starting taking cerazette it did take almost a year to stop periods all together so I'm hoping this is just temporary however if it carries on as regular as it is now ill be going back to doctor. there is no where safe that I know of u can buy cerazette online without a prescription but if there is I would happily pay for it! If u are really desperate to stay on cerazette you can get up to 3 months from uk online pharmacies shipped to u but have to pay £ i did this once in the uk at Christmas time as I didn't have time I go doc and it cost a fortune! hope this helps, I would give the micronor a fair chance (hard I know!) and if after a few months its no better go back to doc see if they can give u something else, perhaps implanon - I had this before cerazette and it was a nightmare but cerazette fine but they are the same just implanon u don't have to remember to take a pill
  9. When it comes to utilities the prices are all very similar, what differs is the discounts here. You can get discounts around the 15% mark with most companies but you would need to ask for it, some do discounts on the whole bill some on just the usage charges. But don't be fooled into thinking if it's the whole bill its better, it isn't always, you will probably be billed on a step tarrif for electric you want the first cheaper tarrif to have a higher kwh allowance to keep the cost down and for gas you want the first mj step to be smaller as the more you use the cheaper it gets and each companies steps are different. Then look at your discounts you can usually sign up for 2 years an get a good deal and most are moving in the way of pay on time, direct debit, paperless billing discounts now so if your happy to do all of those things you will get better discounts. And so far as moving to a new house here in south Australia goes if you call before 230pm you will get a same day connection (takes longer for disconnection at old house though). Unfortunately compare websites aren't that great here so you have to do the legwork yourself but if you do sign a contract and find its not the best deal you have 10 business days cooling off period to change your mind.
  10. I have managed to see an English Doctor today who actually knew what Cerazette was! So all sorted now prescribed me Micronor (i think thats what its called) managed to get 4 months for $13 at Chemist King. Having a good doctor really helps as the first one was a bit rubbish. I have been to 2 docs here one in Blackwood on Main Road as this is near where we first lived and one in Brighton near the rail crossing and I would recommend the Blackwood docs for a good service and knowledge.
  11. I haven't yet managed to find an alternative I saw doc last week who couldn't find anything similar so gave me zoely which is a combination pill and I didn't realise til I got home, lucky they gave me a free sample. I know it won't agree with me as I can only have pop so another doc booked this week to try again. I have found an online pharmacy hoping that I can just get a prescription and order online
  12. Hi Just wondering as this is an old post now if any one ever did find Cerazette in Australia or a good equivalent? I have today been to the doctor armed with the ingredients etc to be told there was nothing similar, not even another POP and after the side effects of the combined pills I'm really not happy taking what was prescribed to me, Ive been there done that and tested them all I would rather stay on something similar than have to start again as if I was a teenager all over and go through the steps of trying everything until I find something suitable. Thanks
