Hi We've been here for around 6 months and have two children under 5. We are enjoying our lives in Adelaide but we are finding it difficult to meet people in similar circumstances to ourselves. If any couples with kids of a similar age and living anywhere nearby (including places like West Lakes) want to meet up at any stage on a weekend then let me know. It'd be good to meet new people. Be aware that Adam Internet have a couple of people in their service team that do not know the meaning of the word service despite that being part of their job. We've had problems since the off with them and are regretting getting into a 24 month contract but that was my stupid fault.

I will send texts out as well, but how does Monday evening sound at Adelaide Indoor Sports Centre, Kidman Park? We can put in a preferred time, so i was going to suggest 7pm. Matches last 30 mins. Hi, I posted a message on an earlier thread recently and there were 3 people who responded saying they'd be up for 5 a side. Could anyone who's interested (including those of you who indicated you wanted to play) reply to this message and we'll see if we get 5 of us and maybe put a team together. Hi Leanne, we live on the border of Semaphore. Not been here too long and so still settling in but really like the area. The beach is lovely and there are some decent shops, cafes, restaurants nearby and other amenities. It's great for young kids with lots of parks and play areas. West Lakes is also a nice spot as is Henley although don't really know there too well. We have two young children including a 3 year old. The nurseries are mixed, probably not the same standard as in the UK if only for the fact that they have historically been seen as somewhere to care for children and not educate them although that is changing now. There are some good private primaries which in the scheme of things aren't expensive, but that is something you can research when you get out here, very difficult to do from the UK. Not sure really. I know the other group are playing Wednesday evenings, but I was just waiting to see if we had the numbers and was then going to make an enquiry. I think we've got 4 so far, so if there's anyone else out there who's interested, let us know on here.

As I've just arrived, literally today, I'm not really sure when will be best for me. Really need to find my feet first with family, getting a property sorted and will then come along. Sorry if that isn't overly helpful at this stage.

I'd be up for some 5-a-side as well. I arrive next week and will be living somewhere in the northern suburbs.

My family is moving out to Adelaide in early September (2 children under 4). We have a short term rental sorted for the first two weeks but need a long-term rental from mid Sep. We need to be in or around the northern suburbs as one of us will be working in Wynn Vale. We are looking at realestate.com and the odd estate agents, but are finding it difficult for obvious reasons still being in the UK. It might well be that we'll have to sort something out in the two weeks when we arrive (which we are pretty anxious about - we couldn't rent the place for any longer than two weeks). Does anyone know of any rentals going or may be able to offer some helpful advice beyond what we're currently doing? Thanks.

Yeah, I am on O2 PAYG, but will ring O2 to check as it may well be locked, cheers for the advice. And I will turn off the roaming!

We'll be looking around at suburbs yes, so just wanted the ease of using our phones if necessary on the go. I'll make sure about that with the phone being unlocked - I'm not on a contract, which I think makes it unlocked, but am not 100% about that.....

Thanks for the advice. We will have internet access in the place we're staying in Hallett Cove, but just wanted to have freedom to go online on the move. We are over for a couple of weeks and coming back permanently later in the year. We currently have iPhone 3S but were thinking of updating to the 4S. Is what you are saying we could only use one of the main carriers if we did update (which would restrict our options)?

I'm not sure whether I've posted this in the right section, but can anyone tell me what's the best thing to do to get internet access on our mobiles (iPhones) when we come out for our validation trip in April. Would we buy Aussie simcards and then get 3G (or equivalent) out and about and/or wifi in wifi hotspots? Anyone that knows (and can offer tips) this would be useful as will need some sort of mobile internet access when we're there and don't want it to cost a fortune. Many thanks.
