  1. Hi all

lokking to see if anyone has been through this process. My parents are lodging this visa in the next few weeks. It seems that all the work is front ended and its a matter of just waiting. They say it will take about 2 years to complete.

if anyone has done this or is going through the process would you mind sharing your experiences with me.

    thanks in advance

We bought the car for my wife to drive my daughter around as she wanted heaps of room without driving a truck. Wonderful car that has been well looked after.

reluctant sale, please contact with any questions you may have or to view, We are located in Aldinga Beach.

  3. Hi, hoping a fellow teacher might know the answer to this. I need to get my Primary school teaching qualifications assessed to start work here. It says that i need to have evidence from the university how many supervised teaching practice days i had during my PGCE, it must be at least 45 and must state how many. I have my PGCE transcripts and on them it states the time that I was doing placements but it says it in weeks rather than days, for example, "2 week induction, 8 day serial attachment and 6 week block. Successfully completed." It then says similar for the other placements. Does anyone know if this is acceptable evidence? O r do i need to get a specific letter outlining how many days from the university itself?

    Thanks

hi my letter from uni just stated 6 weeks in year 2 and then 6 in year 3 and 6 in year 4 and that was accepted. It was on headed paper. They do like to see letters on headed paper I do remember that .

    kathy (good luck)

  4. Hi there, we are a family of 4 who arrived here nearly 2 months ago. I have 2 girls aged 6 and 8 and as I'm often on my own with the girls at weekends as my hubby is working I wondered if anyone would like to meet up? Be great to meet other families for socialising also who are looking for meet ups.

  5. First off, you don't apply for a bridging visa, it is issued automatically when you apply for a substantive visa while on another substantive visa. It doesn't kick in until the first visa expires.

I 'think' you can buy while on a bridging visa.

    Ho Blossom

does that mean as soon as the lodge the 173 visa they will get the bridging visa in a few weeks and can then come over. I am trying to read the info on the net but some of it is so confusing

    thank you Kathy xx

  6. Hi Kathy

To obtain a bridging visa your parents would need to be eligible to apply for the onshore aged parent option. They would need to be over 65 years of age to do this. The cost for each parent is approx $47,337.

    Tee

    Hi Tee

    thsnks for you reply

just wanted to check is that the cost for both the permanent and temp visa each? Also approx how long after they lodge the temp visa can they come over?

    thanks Kathy

  7. Can anyone give me any info on this visa. I know my parents are eligible as I am only child. I know it takes about 18 months but someone has mentioned a bridging visa where they can come and live in Australia whilst theirs is being processed????

cost for each parent???? For bridging visa and 143 visa???

I know I have to sponsor them and pay a bond cost????

    thanks in advance

  8. Yep! Withdrew my NHS pension then found out the same news so just waiting to see if there will be a turnaround on the decision. Very annoying as my funds are pretty much in limbo now.

    Hi

It just seems so unfair my teaching pension and AVC stuck over there aswell as my husbands. I am hoping they will arrange something because there must be thousands like us

  9. Hi can anyone help?

i have been trying to get my pensions over from the UK and have just been told that more or less my pensions are trapped in the UK as the UK no longer recognise any Australian SuperFund as QUROPS.

i am just worried that my pensions in the UK will just dwindle away with fees etc and really don't know what to do. Do I continue paying UK pensions or just pay into Australian Super????.

is anyone else in the same position or can anyone offer assistance

    many thanks

    kathy

  10. Parents Contributory Visa (PCV 143) - Works out about $35,000 each + $10,000 bond (paid by child living in Australia) which pays interest and you get back after 10 years provided you don't make any claims on the State!

You do get PR from day one, Medicare and Seniors card - with a few perks (also, after 2 years, but not for much longer if the SA government have to do the same as other states) Commonwealth Seniors Card which gives you access to cheap prescriptions.

    Thanks

apart art from that do have to prove they have enough cash to live on whilst here and if so how much?

    thank you x

  11. Hi

my family and I emigrated to Adelaide this year. D absolutely love it and have no intention of returning to the UK. My parents (dad 71 and mum 68) are thinking of joining us. Just wandered what visa they would need and is there a certain amount of cash that they would need to have to enter Oz

thankyou in advance for your help

    kathy

  12. Hi

just reading this thread we have a PR visa understood the 5 year deadline but I thought that was just to actually move over here. Do I need to gain citizenship within the five years. If this is the case how long would the application and award take place. If you renew could they refuse.

just having a little panic attack.

Hope yor friend will be OK Tyke

  14. Hi

just updating messages. Working as a TRT now for the last 4 weeks and have only had 2 days off, so there is work about and also turning down approx 3 jobs a day. Be warned you get about $100 a day less in a private school if you are on tier 9 for state. There is a vast difference between some state and independent schools. I must say I am loving it. Schools very different to yo the UK but in a good week x x x

    kathy

  15. Seaford Rise would be in the zone for Seaford 6-12, but if you were happy to go private there are a few within easy drive of Seaford: Tatachilla Lutheran College, A Waldorf-Steiner School in Willunga, Southern Vales Christian College - you'll notice a religious theme running though the fee-paying schools! but as far as I can tell you don't necessarily need to be of a particular faith to enrol your child.

Our eldest goes to Willunga High School, which is zoned so I can't help with any others I'm afraid but I'm sure there are lots on here who could.

Walpdorf Steiner school is absolutely fantastic they have their own approved curriculum. It is a very unique school in appearence eg the library is in the shape of an open book the science lab a sound wave and the year 4 Viking ship. The children are the centre of everything. It is fee paying but in my opinion very much worth it. Have a look at Steiner education on the net. Good luck . Seaford rise us lovely but the school is about 10-15 minutes away by car .

  16. Instead of the frequent discouraging & gloomy threads & comments posted on here by some pessimistic members, I thought I'd share SOME GOOD NEWS!...The OH & I have been here just 3 days over a month & we are LOVIN IT!!! So if you are in the thought process, planning stage, or the waiting interim, I would say carry on, persevere, climb those emotional mountains & get yourselves here!!!!

The 1st couple of weeks are admittedly very manic, but when moving to a new country what else can you expect?!!! We spent many days traipsing around the city (getting lost lol!!) attending to matters such as new bank accounts, Medicare, tax file numbers, driving licence, mobile sim cards, employment preparation, car buying & probably many other things that have escaped my memory!! But its definitely doable, we just got on with it & consequently know our way around lol. We are now feeling very relaxed & extremely settled, of course we miss family & friends but we don't miss home 1 bit, in fact we have communicated with them more this last month then we ever did!! Thank goodness for Skype & whatsapp!!

We love the weather most favourably. Being able to have our morning coffee in the garden in the glorious sunshine, going for walks & lunch outdoors in the lovely surrounding parks & beaches, along with many BBQ's & beer/wine also outside in the evening warmth, almost everyday is absolutely fabulous. I've not worn my coat since travelling to the airport in London!! I'TS GREAT!!

The overall nature of Adelaide is relaxed & easy going (apart from the numerous mad, impatient drivers!!), everything is so easy to get to its hard to believe we're living in a city! My OH is loving the huge variety of food available here, with such a great choice of international cuisines available & affordable.

So to anyone on their way down here, stay positive, keep your dreams alive, just as we did & you will achieve what you desire...& should it not work out, you can at least look back knowing you've tried, instead of living in regret of not knowing & asking what if???!!!!!

Best of luck, Mandi & Leigh x

    Hi both

Completely agree we have been here almost 8 weeks and like yourselves we love the place. Granted there is lots to do but as you say we have moved half way across the world,.

there are too many people on this sight sharing doom and gloom so all I say is live your life and don't listen to others. You decide on what is best for you and your family and only you!

everyone does the research on a country before you move and remember you have to work for what you get nothing is handed to you !!

Adelaide, the place, the people and the weather are all great.

    Kathy

  17. As you've already heard, things are a bit slow here :) So yes, you've probably done the qualifications assessment for the TRB but then you still have to do the full registration once you've done the CP training...such a pain! You can start registering with the DECD whenever and just upload your info / certificates as you go, you cant finalise with them until you have your TRB and yes you will need to do First Aid as mentioned.

Kathy, I'm doing my First Aid course over Easter too, hoping for a similar time frame! I booked via CHESS, links on the DECD website and as its school hols and limited dates it only $52, just worth a look at maybe?

    Kate

    Hi kate

thanks for the message but booked already for the 15th wish I had used the link though x
