Hi, Does anyone have any experience of a bridging visa. I am moving out to Adelaide as my husband is out there - we have been advised to apply for a spouse visa once I am out - but have been told I can apply for a bridging visa so that I can work, whilst the spouse visa goes through - has anyone had any experience of this - how long it takes etc? thank you

Ah really! I felt like I was the only person in the world doing it - thank you for letting me know!!!!! How do they seem? Do you Skype a lot - or do they seem quite detached now you are away with busy lives of their own?

Thank you for this!! Rugging in summer!!! Maybe for flies? My horse in Uk is like an extinct woolly mammoth she has such a thick coat! so I hold out until Novemeber (and she is part thoroughbred!) Wow that place looks amazing - makes me more excited about coming! Thank you :-)

Oh, that sounds good so Bupa is ok when in australia - I thought it would have to be an aussie insurance? I shall look into that, thank you. for replying :-) Heading out last week of March - quite nervous - leaving my sons behind :-( they in their 20s and do not want to come - been a very difficult decision!!

Hi I am moving to Adelaide in March on a 457 long term visa - does anyone know what sort of health insurance I need - I followed the link that my future employer sent me - but it was so general, it wasnt clear? Many thanks Sian

Thank you for that. Its true - I could stay and then find they both leave home - and I will just be alone!!! If I keep my home - at least I have some security here. Where are you in Adelaide?
-
I know - its hard - as they have their jobs, college, friends and dad here etc (although he is a bit of a waste of time!) so I do feel bad - but I wanted them to come with me. Its a difficult situation for us, but I am hoping I am not being selfish and keep wondering if I should go!!!
-
My husband is out there so I will not be paying all the bills - I feel a bit guilty going, which is why I am paying the bills - its a stressful situation, but you are all right - they are getting a good deal and it is not something I can keep up long term

I am paying for a house in UK - mortgage bills etc for my too sons (in their 20's who do not want to come:sad:(yet) and I am going to send money back for one who is still studying. Divide by 2.2!!?? Oh no, thats not as great as i thought, but I will have to survive - maybe sending it back to UK somehow saves me some back again? Thank you for the Caxton fastpay tip - sounds useful - i will take a look. Or the HSBC bank maybe a good idea - maybe I can set up payments direct with that.

Hi I am moving to Adelaide in April, but I am keeping my home in Uk, is it easy enough to pay bills from Australia? I am unsure as each time I look it seems complicated. Also, with a salary of $82000 - what sort of wage will I take home in british pound terms!! I am very new at this and would appreciate any advice or help - my 20 and 22 year old sons are staying in Uk and I want to make sure I keep the family home for them, but I cant seem to work out how easy it will be to pay bills once I am there - or convert my wage to see what I will have (if anything) after I pay for my UK home!!!!!

Thats so useful - the costs of grazing do not seem to bad where you are and sounds like you have good facilities too. I am still in Uk, so will bear that in mind - should be leaving late March. I also noticed that places look very dry and bare - but i suppose horses are used to that and just need hay all summer? I have no idea - I keep my horse off the grass as she had lamanitis one year - but I guess thats one problem you dont have - too much grass! I will look at the link you sent too - and thank you again. I am nervous about the whole move and talking to you guys really helps :-)

Hey thanks for this - I am also leaving my horse behind - but was thinking if things work out I would ship her over in about a year. It seems quite a stress for them, and sooooo expensive, but I cannot imagine ever selling her. Exactly the same with us (to the annoyance of my other half) we are looking at areas where a horse lifestyle is possible - looking at Belair area at the moment and the Hills - Stirling etc. I am still waiting for my work Visa - but should be leaving mid to late March!!!! Scary.

Hey thank you for that. I will have my own horse, so was wondering how to get into riding clubs etc. Posts do seem old and not very common in this area - thank you so much for replying!!
