Best place for purchasing people carriers?

We arrived last Wednesday and We are looking for some sort of people carrier (kia carnival? if any good) or some other 7 seater - quite used as we don't have lots of money. Any recommendations for second hand auto brokers or dealers? We have been to Pickles auctions twice but they don't seem to have any (apparently had several the week before we arrived.) We just have 3 kids and individual seats seem the best instead of a falcon estate thing. We are up in the Northeast (Greenwith) but would travel to find something if someone had a recommendation. Thanks!

Hi Liz, Welcome to Adelaide - hope you're settling in well.

thought I would respond to your people carrier question . we have four children so needed some sort of bus to ferry them around and opted for a grand carnival - we had a sedona in the UK - but this was a short wheel base. The grand carnival is longer wheel base and gives much more room inside. We looked everywhere when we first came and decided to avoid the garages because they seemed to be charging over the odds .We looked at all sorts of carriers but went back to the carnival because it was familiar to us. There have been alleged technical problems with the older kias but having had one for several years ourselves have never experienced any - but apparently the newer ones are better. we ended up buying privately. In each area there seems to be a spot where people park their cars for private sale and we've seen quite a lot of Carnivals this way since getting ours. Our friend bought a car by putting a "wanted" ad in the paper and he had a lot of response. Hope this helps. Jane

Hiya, we have 3 kids all requiring car seats and had similar problems! We started out with a Holden Jackaroo (fold down seats in boot) but crashed it! Now have a Mitsubishi Nimbus which is ugly and old ('97) but had good mileage and is vastly more economical to run. That cost us $6k from a private sale. They had a few in garages on Main North Rd when we were looking.

Thanks you guys! Off to keep looking! It's just so stressful as we are NOTORIOUSLY bad at selecting cars. I think we've been through 7 or even 8 in our 13 years of marriage and we've never crashed ONCE! It's easier to make a bad decision at $6000 than $12000! I know dealers are notoriously over - priced but I was thinking only of warranty issues. However, private - here we come!

Hi There have you tried Carsalescom au its the OZ autotrader where you can drill down areas, makes, models, KM and most importantly cost

All cars under $6k i believe come with 3 month warranty then over $6 its more but you need to check that out

ING are good insurers out here although you dont need it if only want 3rd party as your rego (car tax) will cover that if you where not already aware of this

Good Luck

Earl
