Hi,

I'm going out in Feb as a painter and decorator and currently work as a maintenance operative so hopfully the answer to both your questions is good. From what I have seen as an employed person the wages are around $40,000 to $50,000 but getting work offers is almost impossible untill you get there.

 

If I find out anything useful when I get there I will post it on this site, there are a number of painters on here who may have more info, I seem to remember a painter and decorators thread sometime back, may be worth a look.
