State Sponsorship Research?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone's all good. We're plodding forward with our application, & are currently sorting out the paper based part of the skills assessment, but I'm trying to be organised and I'm thinking forward for when we apply for state sponsorship. I've had a good search of the forums (or so I think I have, send me in the direction of previous posts if I'm missing it somewhere) & I can't really find much information on this.

I'm wondering what is required specifically for the SS application. Do we need paper based research on areas, schools, work prospects etc?

& also, I'd read somewhere (whilst searching for SS) that you are required to have 000's of $ on entry?

We will have some savings (probably £10,000 once we've paid for all the visa process) & then will hopefully have a decent chunk from the sale of our house & belongings we don't plan to take (£50k or so, all being well). Do they require the funds in an Aus account?

Hi Amy,

We showed we understood things like the pay for our jobs, cost of living (food, petrol, schools etc etc), gave details of our pensions and savings. Our funds weren't in an Oz account at that stage...we didn't sell our house until after we'd sent the application in. That may have changed now though. I also talked about how we planned to make friends and socialise and about how we'd done that before. We detailed both our occupations and prospects as we saw them. Where abouts in Lancs are you ? The hills are lovely but so are most places...you been here already ?

Hi Amy,

Similar to previous post, we just detailed what research we had done around jobs and areas, and the reasons we had chosen Adelaide. We didn't provide spreadsheets or any other evidence of this though, just a written statement. I remember that we completed a financial form and we detailed what funds we expected to have from the sale of our house. This was certified by a solicitor friend. We didn't show bank statements though, and only opened an Aus account after visa was approved and we were on a reccie.

Good luck with everything. Caroline

Thanks Caroline, really good info.

I don't think I'll ever stop worrying about the next step!

Good luck with the move - not long to go now! x
