Can I just ask all you 887 people a question: We are on a 489 visa, and need to have lived in SA for two years, but does this take into account holidays out of Australia or trips back to the UK? I'm just trying to work out if it will just be the 2 years we have to wait or 2 years plus any time not in the country? I know the 4 years citizenship requirement has an allowance for time out of the country, but I couldn't find anything similar on the 887 visa conditions.

Goodluck @persianharry...i also haven't found any guideline set by DIBP on the allowable number of days you are out of Australia before submitting your 887 visa application. This topic has been discussed in this thread multiple times but it will take you heaps of clicking before finding the exact location of the messages. This is not official but based on the info i got from previous postings, you are allowed 3 weeks per year, meaning you can be out of Australia for a total of 6 weeks within that 2 year period before you can apply for 887 visa. I supposed its the CO's discretion depending how that 6 weeks is utilised. Take note that only the primary applicant is required to comply the 2 years residency. Your dependents, if any, can be added to your 887 visa application regardless of the time they live with you in regional area but should be onshore when you submit your application. They should also have held the same visa as yours before you can add them in your application. In my case, i only spent 10 days out of Australia and applied 887 visa a day after my 2nd year anniversary and was granted without questioning the 10 days im away.

Hi Guys, I have a question related to freedom of moving anywhere in Australia while 887 waiting time. I live in regional NSW on 489 visa (Sponsored by Orana). I have moved here in Jan 2016 while my bridging visa A of 489. I will fulfill my conditions of living and working in Regional Australia by Feb 2018. Now, after applying 887 visa in Feb. 2018, while on bridging A, can I move back to Sydney before it is granted?

Your bridging visa A will only take effect after your 489 visa expires while waiting for your 887 visa grant. You will still be bounded by the conditions of your 489 visa. If you move to Sydney while waiting for your 887 visa, you are in breach of your visa conditions and might affect the outcome of your application. Unless the CO will never find any documents that will linked you being in sydney, it might not post any problem but be careful, your 2 year wait to become a PR might goes to nothing. There were cases here that they informed their CO's about moving to non regional areas after applying 887 visa and were asked to go back to regional areas. The processing time right now is 4-5 mos. We never know, the approval might be faster when you apply in 2018.

Accountant, the case officer also ask me for additional document two time,22of June and 10 of August. Have you give them a call before? I did, and so the case officer ask for additional documents at the second time.? Maybe I should not call them...just waiting maybe is better idea?
