UK Child Trust Fund

    Hi

Does anyone know what happens to the child trust funds when you are no longer resident in the UK? I contacted my children's building society today to explain we were moving abroad and they were unsure if they could still access this when they turn 18 if they are not UK residents. They did say they will allow transfers out, however I dont know if Australia have anything similar which they can be transferred into.

    Has anyone else investigated this??

I was told they are still entitled if it was obviously granted before you left the UK. But no idea how they are supposed to get their hands on it. I have brought all the relevant paperwork with me (so I dont forget its there!) and im sure there wil be contact details - if I find out anymore will let you know.

Mine are in Nationwide and they said as long as we keep them up to date with our address, then a letter will be sent out when the kids are 18 and details of how to access it will be on there.

My daughter has hers with the Nationwide as well and my branch said we could keep it going so family and friends could pay money into it if they wanted.
