Hi all

Another daft question coming up.......

Do unfurnished rentals generally include white goods?

We're coming over for 2 years on a 457 visa, and our container gets packed/filled/shipped next week. We'll be in the UK for about 4 wks with no furniture so potentially, no washing machine.

We'll be doing a long term rental whilst in Oz, unfurnished.

Don't wanna live without a washing machine for a month (with 2 kids!) if when we pick our rental they mostly include a washing machine anyway.......

....any thoughts?

Or... can anyone give me a link to any rental services in Adelaide (a la Radio Rentals, Rumbelows etc) so I can price up renting one for the 24 months?

Cheers !! !! !!

Ryski

Rentals that are unfurnished cone with a cooker and if you're lucky a dish washer. No washing machine and no fridge freezer. It's probably cheaper to buy one than rent for 2 years. Go to Gepps cross where there are loads of places that sell this stuff (Harvey Norman, good guys etc) then haggle hard. I got an $800 washer for about $400 although that was with government rebate which I believe has stopped now.

Radio Rentals are good for a year or so.We rented a New Washing Machine and tall Fridge for our first year, and were pleasantly surprised that it really was not that expensive, and after the year was up all was straight forward, they collected the items, did not penalise us with the usual rip off crap you sometimes get here(hidden clauses etc)It suited our needs and did the job.Just Google them.Best Luck.:D

Yes only the stove ,a good site to buy second hand stuff from in Adelaide when you are here is a facebook page calles Garage sale(really cheap) or go to some garage sales while you are here, there are lots and will be much cheaper than renting things!! maybe ask people on this site if you could borrow some appliances for a month....the people are great one here.

We bought for our rental as we gave everthing away in the UK. But, Radio Rentals does seem a good alternative and at least you don't have the large initial outlay.

When we were in Adelaide a couple of years ago we got a fridge from a garage sale for $60. It was old but in excellent condition. We sold it on for $50 when we left 8 months later! We did the same with our bed and we managed to get a TV for $5, which was still working last I heard! There are an awful lot of garage sales and stuff advertised through the papers. You will probably be able to get an excellent second hand w/machine when you get there for a great price.
