Aussies who are looking to embark on a career change in order to boost their annual salary should seriously consider moving into one of these 10 highest paid jobs.

Overall, surgeons once again topped the list of occupations nationwide with the highest mean taxable income of just over $375,000, according to the latest ATO taxation statistics for 2013-14.

In fact the profession reached the number one spot across all states, with salaries ranging from an average of $304,398 in NSW to a massive $475,058 for the same job in Western Australia.

Anesthetists and special physicians also made the top three in every state across the country except NSW, which saw special physicians trumped by the mean salary of financial dealers.

While medical professional positions dominate the top 10 list of highest paying jobs in general, there is also representation from the financial, legal, mining and business industries.

OK Tamara

Apologies....... my limp attempt at Reductio ad Absurdum deserves to be canned, .......lets not argue why even the oldest of professions didn't make it onto this bizarre list

But here's something really absurd:

Dozens of blue collar workers would have visited this site over the last year and gone away with the impression that the SA economy is in terminal decline, and that the mining industry is in a state of collapse

And yet here we have a posting that infers that we are gagging to play host to the one of the world's most reviled professions:

- that anyone professing to be a Financial Dealer will not only be welcome here,

- but they can expect to be ushered into a job,

- and they can expect to be in the same league table as Surgeons and Anesthetists (!!?!)

Tamara, we haven't even made headway clearing up the mess made by Financial Advisers in the Australian Banking Industry, yet

So......... no apologies for not allowing that fetid little stinker through to the keeper
