Hi There, we are are family of 8, myself, my husband and our 6 children, we are in the process of appyling to Southern Australia for our visas, My husband is a metal machinist and I am a housewife... we are in the early stages but have been researching for a while etc. have found all the info posted on here so so shelpful so thanks to you all...will keep you updated...hoping to go to Adelaide suberbs, somewhere nice, near a beach, shops and schools...so any suggestions on good areas where there is a good beach would be fab!! Also anyone out there who is hoping to make the move 2012, let us know we can keep each going thru the highs and lows!!!

Welcome to PIA, wow 6 kids you've got your hands full! We are from Fleet in Hampshire and been here for 4 years.

 

We live down south and can recommend the southern suburbs. There are loads of great places near lovely beaches with reasonably priced houses.

 

Good luck with your application and as you say there's loads of good info on here and plenty of people who can answer all your questions so just ask,

Holy crap...6 kids...you really do need to but a TV when you get here lol

 

Only you can make the choice of where you want to live....make a list of whats important to you and your family of where you want to live like

 

Schools

local transport

beaches

shops

hospital

cost

etc etc

 

Rank them in order get the views of the whole family then you can start to narrow down where you wanna live, we are down in Aldinga Beach...we fell in love with it withing days of finding it...we rented in Seaford for 2.5 years then built our own house...

 

For some people its a bit out of the way for others they love it...

Welcome to the forum, wow 6 kids. your not married to brad pitt are you? LOL

 

Beach's you won't have a problem, but the majority of your hubby's trade will be located north of the city. This may be a factor when looking at location and the cost of commuting.

Also check to see if his Quals can be converted to Aussie ones once you arrive.

Thanks for replying, so nice to hear of others that have successfully done all the stressful visa bit and are now finally there!! We are so excited its crazy, know its early early days but we have a great agent who is really on the ball, so fingers crossed for us all! Thanks again Helen x
