  8. Hi Bevens some of the short term rentals are available for long term rentals also, some unfurnished I'd check with some owners on here too as many have rentals in the areas you are looking at. good luck with the move. kim
  9. I agree you can find a long term rental within a month to 6 weeks depending on the time of year and area your looking in, however there are many people who chose to stay in a short term rental longer as they dont know the areas they want to settle in nor checked out the schools for their kids, especially if you are bringing over a container. I think its down to personal circumstances and what you feel comfortable with really. AND there are many reasonable short term rentals out there with discount rates for longer stays. Good luck Kim:wubclub:
  10. Yes if you shipping a container over it could be a while without furniture, we have a number of 12 week bookings for our rentals and as Tyke says that's when the big discounts start to kick in so the rates become very competitive against long term rentals. Also you then get a decent time in a rental for a reference towards a long term rental. Good luck with the move over Kim
  11. Good luck guys, hope it all works out well for you. We are going to Brisbane for long weekend soon keep threatening not to come back.... Sick of this winter weather!!!!
  12. Hi Louise Dont know if you have found anywhere yet, unfortunately our Seaford home is booked but we do have a short period of availablility at one of our homes in Moana (next suburb along) "Acacia" from 5th December but as the other guys say December and January are very popular months. PM me if interested or send me an email address below. Good luck with the move. Kim:smile:
  13. Thanks Vikki YesAcacia rentals is real it's my company Weve been away on holiday so i couldnt reply As Tamara says always look for an ABN Australian Business Number when you get a quote and a company bank account where you pay you deposit into. All these little checks will ensure the company is legit and professional. Thanks Kim x
  14. Hi There may be members on this site that offer short term furnished propertie near that area, check out the Accomodation available section on this site. Also check out Take a break.com and stayz.com your email will go straight to the owner so ask for a discount for a longer stay. Good luck with the move kim
  15. HI Lynn Cant remember how much it is but you can apply and pay on line. you get a date to attend an interiew where you ahve to supply some info and possibly paperwoek and you take a citizenship test (Multi choice test) You will be told after the test if you pass then you have to attend a citizenship ceremony where you get your certificate. (normally within a couple of months) Once you attend the ceremony you can apply for your Australian passport. Yes you can keep your UK citixenship as well and have dual passports too/ Good luck with it all mostly a tick and flick, you can get a free book which will help you with the test as well Kim x

  19. Hi Rich Currently the train take about 30 minutes from Noarlunga (express strain non stop), the line is being electrified at the beginning of the year and then opened from Seaford to the city. with the change from diesel engine to electric the train journey will be faster the plan is (when I worked in the contract dept for Rail) was that the line would stop still at Noarlunga with possibly one express straight from Seaford (to begin with) but the time taken would still be about 35 mins from seaford via express to Adelaide. I do. 3 journeys on the train per week 2 mornings, 1 evening. Nice journey, sea views and friednly people!!!! bit different from the Fleet to Waterloo train!!!!! Good luck Kim

    Graffiti

When we first came over it really wasnt that bad at all, we use to comment about the play parks being in tact and hardly any graffiti around. I liked the idea that Bunnings and alike lock the spray cans up so people have to ask for it. Unfortunately things really seem to have got worse in the last couple of years, but as said above the council do a good job and are on the ball and get rid of it very quickly. Kim
  21. YEP... Unfortunately far too common here but to make it worse people seem to accept it as the norm!!!!!
  22. Congratulations Natasha !!!! Its all very real now isnt it!!!! Time will fly by and youll be here before you know it, Good luck with everything Kim x:wubclub:
  23. GOOD LUCK NICK !!!!!! Im very excited for you Cant wait to come in and see the place Take Care, see you soon Kim x
  24. Hi All Wow reading your posts certainly takes me back to our visa story!!! we came over with a 3 year old and probably like 90% of the other migrants didnt have jobs, family or friends here either. Family reactions were mixed for us too and although its an exciting time it did also seem a bit daughting at times also!!! but if it gets tough always keep in mind the reasons why you decided to do the move, its so worth it in the end. We just love it here, its a great lifestyle this is where we belong. Post any questions you have on this forum as there are some great people on here with lots of experience and advice so someone will have the answer Good luck with all your plans Take Care Kim x:wubclub:
