  1. Hi Gill, I was going to apply to RDNS, never got round to it, a work colleague's friend works with them and loves it, but I've come to the conclusion you just have to try it to find out. Think the wages are about the same as a private hospital?? But I think you should be able to salary sacrifice?
  2. Omg, thought it was just me!!! My Ozzie friends looked at me blankly when I asked and I have looked everywhere, no luck!!! Might have to get em posted from the UK if you get desperate!!!!!
  3. Hi, I am currently waiting for a state sponsored visa as we could no longer apply for a 175, and voiced my concerns to my agent as we didn't know if we would stay in sa, my agents response was that we had a moral not a legal obligation to stay in sa, which is what they seem to of stated in their reply to you. That's something you may need to clarify with them. Hope this is a bit of help.
  4. Yep, agree with the 'doing it on your own' I'm on a sponsored visa, the rules have changed so I can get out with a new nomination and the Government now say we don't have to pay back any fee's that the hospital had to pay, to get out of the contract so it's not as bad as it originally was, (Just in case anyone didn't know!!) Anyway if your not sponsored take your pick, Public is a better choice, less patient laod, more handover time, education, doctors, pay and salary sacrifice. Good luck
  5. You won't pay tax if your out the country, we've got ours rented and we're here, there's a few forms to fill out, think we'll have to still do a tax return but they've told us we're tax exempt, if you do the renting through an agent they should roughly point you in the right direction.
  6. Hey, I did my test on Saturday too, but in Adelaide, agree the reading part is the hardest, when they were calling out the names for us to go to the speaking tests the guy was so releived to have an English name to call, they were really struggling trying to pronounce all the chinese, Japanese and Indian names! The girl who did my speaking test apologised before we started, saying she would be asking me some really silly questions.....do I eat fruit and veg......? It was quite funny..... I also saw a Chinese student from work who was gobsmacked when she saw me there, asked 'WHY?' (cost me $310 too so I better pass!!!!)
  7. And a microwave, we wished we'd brought our cheap asda one which only cost £30, only use it to re-heat, not found anything as cheap (only white ones) we're still doing without, and yes, yes, yes, I agree with everything said about the tumble dryer, our house looked like a laundrette!!!

    sunloungers!!!

Bunnings, we got some great camping ones, they were $59 though and they dont lay completely flat so you can do your back, but we're well pleased, sure there was a cheaper one as well though.
  9. YEP, have to agree, we were very worried had a king size pine bed and bed side cabinets, wooden ornaments from abraod, no problem with any of it! Good luck!
  10. Fantastic pictures!I went to Hallett cove beach on tues and there were a couple there!!!Was a bit of a shock, stood and watched for a couple of hours and by the time I left the roads were full of cars and people, it was amazing, texted everyone at home!!!!!
  11. Do you mind me asking which visa it was you applied for?my agent has just told me that 175's (which is the 1 we wanted) are taking 18-24 months to come through yet my friends 175 came through in 8 months, they seem to be pushing for me to go for a 176. They say there is only a moral obligation to stay in the state for 2 years with the 176 not a legal 1 and it seems the time you have already been here for counts towards it. Not saying that we want to leave Adelaide but it would be nice to have the choice.
  12. Well I had a little moan and apparently my half a w'end was an accident, oops, so I got my w'end back, I'm just going to have to request more I think and see what happens
  13. Yeh, seriously, what is it with the w'ends, I keep asking, who isn't doing them????We usually end up with too many staff who get to take A/L or leave without pay or have to go releiving!!!I'm not sure if it's something to do with getting out of paying agency if too many people ring in sick?!
  14. Thanks Lindsey, I'm a bit worried about ending up somewhere worse!!!!I need some reccomendations, what area is your husband in?I'm going to try to move around the hospital first in the hope I can cope with that while I wait for a 175, I'm doing HDU and general surgery at the mo, done a bit of ICU, ENT, and bones in the UK, what area are you in? I've heard that public is better than private for conditions, which do you work in?Can't beleive I want to leave somewhere so quick after starting but the shifts are killing me!!! (Not that I'm at all ungratefull for being here!)
  15. Hi, does anyone work as a nurse for the Acha group on a 457?I'm hoping to move to a different area but will have to be in the same group, I'm looking for somewhere that gives me more than 1 weekend in 3 off (have only got half a w'end this time!!!!!!!!) My contract is 2 years but I've just applied for a PR visa which I hope means I can change things but this is still months ahead, can't really see the point of being here if me and my husband can't get to explore Adelaide for more than 1 day a month together!!!! (As you can tell it's put me in rather a bad mood:mad:)
