Car in good condition for age inside and out. A few minor shopping trolley dings and marks commensurate with age. Can send more photos if required. Runs very well. Has 1 week rego left. Serviced regularly. Located in Flagstaff Hill Please call for more details.
  2. Hi Neil. Just wondered if you found a good plumber? We need our gas boiler & aircon servicing. Thanks, Lana
  3. Hi. I use Fishpond quite often. The prices are usually pretty good. The only negative is that my orders have often been delayed. I ordered my little one 2 jigsaws for his birthday at beginning of September. One arrived last week and I had an email today to say that they cannot get the other one so order has been cancelled (after waiting weeks). Other than that, all good.
  4. Hi. Where are you based? I am looking for 2 IKEA single mattresses - are you selling the mattresses too? Thanks

  6. Hi there. We moved here 2 years ago. We had a 3 year old at the time and I was 6 months pregnant (my children will be 5 and 2 this year). My 3 year old took everything in his stride and loves the outdoor life. We get to the beach every week (summer and winter) and manage to play outdoors most days. Having children provided a great start to meeting other parents (playgroups and then kindy). We did most of our school research on this website. We bought the book 'where to live in Adelaide'. Once we had some idea of where we wanted to live we researched the local schools. There is a website (think its 'my school' but not sure) that provides information similar to the UK league tables. We found that we got a feel for each school when we visited though and ultimately made the decision based on this. Adelaide is a great place for raising children. Good luck!
  7. Hi. We have a telstra phone too. Have you tried their international deal. From memory we pay $10 month for it. Calls then cost something like 2c per minute to the UK but you get the $10 back in this too. Hope that helps.
  8. Hi. Thanks for interest but hopefully sold. Being collected tomorrow.
  9. We used these sofas until we had purchased our new ones. They are old but have only been used inside and are solid and very comfortable. They do have marks on them but could be used outside/on porch or could be covered with a throw until your furniture arrives! Collection from Flagstaff Hill. Tel 8270 3450.
  10. Hi. We arrived Adelaide June last year and had lots of rain through til October time! Think it was an unusual year for weather. We think Adelaide is a great place to raise children. My husband chose Adelaide because of the seasons - he quite liked the uk winters! It does feel cold here in the winter but you won't be scraping ice from your windscreen every morning! Good luck with your plans
  11. Hi. We've been in Flagstaff Hill a few weeks now (arrived Adelaide in June this year but moved to Flagstaff in August) and would love to meet other families in the area. We have 2 children, Lewis aged 3 years and Alex 7 weeks. Would be great to meet other mums for coffee/chat or meet ups with the kids. Look forward to hearing from you. Lana, Bruce, Lewis and Alex
  12. Hi Tracey. Thanks for reply. Would be great to meet up. Will pm you my number & get in touch after baby born (he's still hanging on!). Lana
  13. Hi Helen. Thanks for reply. Would be good to meet up. Are you still looking for rental? Let me know where you decide to land and if we can be of any help. Good luck with the trip. Lana
  14. Hi. We've been in oz a few weeks now & recently moved to flagstaff hill. My baby was due on 4th September (3 days late now!). Would be great to hear from/meet up with other new mums in the area. I also have a 3 year old and would welcome any advice/experience of playgroups or kindergartens locally. Lana
  15. Hi. Saw the title of your thread and thought I would respond. I obtained a 175 visa through my SW qualifications last year. We moved to Adelaide last month and my other half is applying for the Adelaide police force. As neither of us have started work yet I can't tell you much about the careers over here but we have seen job advertisements for both in the few weeks we have been here. The recruitment process for the police is quite in depth (as with UK). Suprisingly the computer exam is quite advanced. There are courses to help you pass though. How are you getting on with the visa applications? Lana
  16. Hi Rich. We bought the other side of Flagstaff Road (Seppings Court) in one of the established estates. Flagstaff Pines looks nice though. We have a 3 year year old and a baby due in September and thought that Flagstaff looked good for families. Lana
  17. Hi. Just read your thread. We moved to Australia a few weeks ago and have just bought a house in Flagstaff Hill. We move in on the 7th August. Whereabouts in Flagstaff did you buy? We purchased a house on an estate above Black Road. Can't wait to move out of our rental property! Lana
  18. Hi Jim. Thanks for the info. Do you know if you have to have a mortgage to claim the grant or can you still claim if you are paying in full for the house? Thanks, Lana
  19. Hi. Have registered with Hifx and Moneycorp. One of them (can't remember which) told me that if we don't exchange our cash until we are in Oz then we are liable for capital gains tax or Australian equivalent. Does anyone know if this is correct? Thanks
  20. Hi. Great to hear its been extended. We fly to Adelaide on 11/6/09. Think I read somewhere that you have to have been resident in Oz for 6 months before you can apply for the Home owner grant. Do you know if this is right? Any info gratefully received. Thanks, Lana
  21. Hi. Well done on your new house! Was just wondering how the bidding works? Houses often advertised at $450 - $500 000 for example rather than a set price like in UK. Can you then put an offer in below $450 or would the owners be expecting the upper price? Any advice very welcome. Thanks
  22. Hi Wendy. We sold our house a few weeks ago and have been living with my mother-in-law since then!!! We have applied for OAA services too. Did they contact you 3 weeks prior to your departure as it states? Can't wait to find out if we have accommodation/where. Christies beach sounds like a good place to start though. Good luck with it all. Lana
  23. Hi Wendy. We fly to Adelaide on the 11th June and are also looking at Flagstaff hill/Aberfoyle area. Would be great to hear how you are getting on and your first impressions. Good luck, Lana
  24. Hi. If you look on poms in Oz and search 'export cars' (or something similar) there is a really useful thread. A guy has devised an excel table where you can work out the costs - you put in the value of your car here and in Oz and it does the maths for you. We found this really helpful. Good luck, Jez
