  1. Advice wanted please.....I have a couple of UK ISA's (one a Cash ISA and one a Stocks and Shares ISA) set up 10 years before I moved to Australia, and I haven't contributed to them since moving here 8 years ago. When the time comes to cash them in/withdraw the funds, do I have to pay Australia income tax on the whole growth over the life of the ISA or just the growth since I moved to Australia - as the funds were set up as tax free whilst I was in the UK? Not sure what's the best thing to do with them?
  2. Not sure if you managed to get rid of them but we'd love them if they are still available ? cheers colin
  3. Looking for a decent condition, boys bike, age 9 to 12 years if possible.
  4. Hi Donna We have one that we have been thinking about getting rid of for some time. It's quite old but is in good condition and is in good working order - we just don't use it very much so it sits there half empty most of the time! We live in Willunga so you'd need to collect it from here. Let me know if you are interested and I'll go and take a photo and upload it for you. Cheers Colin
  5. Oh yes! Number one priority of course !! See you soon hopefully!
  6. We're breaking our lease on this great rental house as we've just bought a place. 4 or 5 bedrooms (we use the formal lounge as a bedroom) huge kitchen/ family room, 2 bathrooms, very large covered outdoor area and lovely garden. 10 min walk from centre of Willunga village, farmers market, oval and school. $380 per week. Please PM us if you would like to see photos or more details. Thanks Colin and Helen Bowles
  7. Good shout, I (now 40 yrs old and feeling very unfit!) could do with some sort of knock about before we assault the Noarlunga League and take it by storm! Be good to meet the rest of the team as well. Anyone else up for a kick about one evening or maybe weekend? We had a good kick about one afternoon not so long ago in Belair National Park, big oval, BBQs and picnic areas etc, blokes can play footie, kids/wives/supporters can play in the park etc. Or maybe we can stick to what we are good at and just go for a few beers - to talk tactics of course! Colin (QPR - sorry Ben!)
  8. I'm up for it but the season is drawing to a close and I think leagues finishes now at Noarlunga........? Anyhow, count me in, either now or next season!
  9. That sounds good - another one to check out, thanks! I like this thread! I was wondering what to do at the weekend when the weather is not forecast to be so good, seems the answer is right here!!
  10. definitely the Bush Inn in Willunga, great pub, nice people (staff and customers), good live music, cosy fire if its cold, good food, pool table etc etc. Probably best pub I have been in since I got here 9 months ago.......
  11. Nice one Mr Tyke! Brings back memories of the one that got away when we went Snapper hunting!! Great photos!
  12. So by my reckoning thats the following: HG Alex Colin Ben Jim Anyone else? We need another 2 or three to make it work I reckon...........
  13. I would also def be up for a game. Let me know if there is any game this week. I would also be able to commit regularly, bit unfit but willing!!
  14. There is a lovely ride between Willunga and McLaren Vale. Down an old disused railway line that they made into a cycle way. Our two lads are four and seven and they did it both ways no problem. It's about 7km each way but fairly easy and the track is in really good condition. Lovely ride through the vines, views to the hills and the coast, and loads of places to stop at either end for refreshments as well! Enjoy!
  15. I'd be up for it. Have been taking my eldest to footy practice these past couple of weeks and it has got me thinking I'd like to kick a ball again. I'm hopelessly out of shape and could do with some fitness training but I'm willing! I live in Willunga, so Seaford or Noarlunga centre would be good for me.......
  16. Ben Jay We are in the holiday/short-term rental business, although our properties are in France rather than Australia. The payment of the deposit and then the balance up-front is absolutely standard practice in our industry. I would always recommend, as suggested in the replies already, that you check out the company you are dealing with and of course, paying by credit card will also afford you some protection.
  17. Sorry for the delay - only just seen your post. The address of the clinic was Bells Road, Somerton Park. Good luck!
  18. Hello all Having benefitted enormously from this site over the past few months (Thanks to everyone who contributes!), and especially now that we have finally arrived in Adelaide (16th December 2009), I thought it was about time I contributed to the forum with something that other people may find useful! Unfortunately, my 7 year old lad had a fall in the house on Saturday (thanks to the enthusiastic 4 year old younger brother on his back!) and he chipped both his front teeth - adult teeth as well! Anyway, after a bit of panicking and some help from our friendly landlord (you know who you are - thankyou!) we managed to speak to the out-of-hours emergency dental clinic. They offered advice and were very helpful and then told us of the local clinic to attend first thing Monday to get it looked at. After making an appointment on the telephone, we went along yesterday and got his teeth looked at by the very professional and helpful staff at the Dental Clinic in Glenelg. They did a fantastic job fixing his teeth and it was a bit of a shock when they informed me it was free of charge! Apparently any emergency dental work on children is free. They also informed us that for the kids treatment, we can go back to that dental clinic or another more local to us and they charge a one off fee of just $37 per visit, regardless of what treatment is required. Our 4 year old will also be able to benefit as there is no charge whatsoever for pre-school kids. This was all news to us. We assumed that we would be paying full whack for the kids and when we do finally get our healthcare sorted, that we would have to go private for the children as well. It seems it's just the adults that will need that cover. Hope this is of use to some of you with children! Cheers
  19. Hi Tracey Just read your post and this day out sounds great! We arrive in Adelaide next Wednesday and will be renting in Woodcroft so I'd love to join you for the tour. Let me know if there is a place to meet and how I can pay you? Thanks for organising it and I look forward to hearing from you, Lola
