    rego

Clare if the officer hasn't been round to get you yet, he probably won't bother. The police here are ticket obsessed so the fact that he didn't give you a ticket at the time, telling you it was your obligation to prove you had purchased the Rego on said date and time. This makes me think he/she will not be bothering you. Just make sure Rego is now up to date and that the correct sticker is showing in your car. As for contacting the station, I would definatley would NOT do this.
  2. Anywheres good. Is the Highway easy to get to from town???

  8. Such a shame I can't make it on Saturday due to work. I know that this is a bit in the future but if all goes well on Sat. I propose a night out on Sat 17th July... My first free Sat. Let me know what happens and whether anyone will be up for it????? Have a great night.

If theres no train station near you.PM me and I could always pick you up, if I can go and then go on the train together from Port Adelaide!!!! Hope to be able to go, if not I hope there will be another one soon!!!!

    Road rage

The driving standard is particularly bad over here. The driving age is 16 and there is no real test. They have a sort of totting up of hours hence the P plates. They have to do so many hours with a full licence holder in with them then move from L to P, then it is a case of having this for a number of years before moving on to a full licence. I know that it was a nasty experience and one that should not have happened but this sort of road rage behaviour happens everywhere in the world and I think it was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Put it behind you and just watch out for other drivers, mainly for your own safety. It just goes to show how bad some drivers are when noting the amount of accidents that occur over here when the roads are straight and the speed limit is 60KM!!!

    Driving license?

Hello Just take your UK driving licence, proof of your new address, passport and a nice smile for having your photo taken and voila you can get an Aussie licence. You get to keep your UK one as well. You do not need to take another test. No one here takes a test!!!!!
  14. Hello Ive not lived here too long. I am in Port Adelaide so could catch up with you for a coffee some time. Let me know and we can sort something out, maybe for next weekend if your free? Hope your doing well.
  15. I think I will do that too. Might see you guys on Saturday. Thanks Mark :v_SPIN:
  16. Hello I'm single 33 and have been here a month. I would be interested in meeting up with you guys too. Good idea for a post Netee.
  17. It would be great to meet up, just say a time and place as I am pretty much free having just got here and not starting work till April. I have never married, or really settled down infact so I have no tribe. It is just me i'm afraid! It's my sister whos got the kids, it did upset me leaving her 5 year old bawling his eyes out when I left for good! Give me a shout and I will be there Emma
  18. From Carlton... But worked at Radford Road area and Bestwood. Wow looks like you guys have been here ages. I hope I'll be the same one day in the future. Where abouts did you move from in Nottingham, now uniquely named Shottingham. Comforting!
  19. Hello Marie Thanks for the welcome. I have been here 2 days now. Been rushing around sorting out driving licences cars etc. Now I have 3 weeks to relax before I begin work. I'm just going to look around Adelaide and later try a run along the beach! Ive moved from Nottingham - It was really cold when I left. What about yourself where are you from and how long have you been here and are you loving it? Looking forward to meeting up soon.
  20. Hello I have just moved to Port Adelaide from the U.K and would be keen to meet some others in the area. Contact me if there is something on the horizon as it would be great to see what others have been up to. Emma
  21. Hey Armchair Detective. I too will soon be on the beach in Adelaide chilling before I start at SAPOL... What is the 5 year rule when it comes to Pensions, I've not heard of that before? Cheers!
  22. It will be each persons preference as to where they want to work. I personally want to work in Adelaide (not sure which station at the moment) and in an ideal world live near the coast somewhere like Brighton perhaps? I am going to try and rent to start off with however whilst we train. Ive heard that Semaphore is really nice and not far at all to where we train. I bet there are hundreds of people on here that can give you some good tips on wheres best to live. There is a hell of a lot of info. on the net as well and now with Google maps you can even tke a virtual walk along the beach. Good luck with the house sale Ive not had one person round mine yet.
  23. Hey I'm joining SAPOL in April as well. I still need to sell my house but can always rent it if I find myself in March not having sold. The police Forum is quite useful in regards to paperwork etc, but all that's done now. I think there may be some sort of get together in London before we go for those of us who want to meet up. If you keep an eye on the link I think Plods might organise it. My auntie suggested this site and it's really useful. Iv'e been told to just go with the flow when it comes to work in SAPOL. Good Luck!
