Would just like to thank everyone for their replies however I would also like to appologize to everyone as I should have replied to this thread at the time.

The original message I posted was back in March 2010 and we were granted out 175 Visa on 22nd June 2010 (our 3rd wedding anniversary) so it took just under 3 months.

Hopefully the recent replies are still relevant for people currently going through the Visa process.

Hi,

We rented Tyke's place in Seaford Rise in February this year and can highly recommend it.

A really nice house, not too far from the beach at Moana and the shops at Seaford Rise Shopping Centre are just up the road as well. It's a two storey modern building with 3 bedrooms, although there isn't a pool, the beach isn't too far away.

As Tamara said Tyke's a really decent bloke who is very helpful and can give you alot of very useful information about the local area and Adelaide as well.

We got that book, has been quite useful.

Got that book from an Oz Expo at Aintree a few years ago. Very useful information however I think it was published in about 2007 so probably needs an update now.

We're doing a recce in Adelaide from 12th Feb to 22nd Feb. Staying in a rental in Seaford Rise, just the two of us and our 20 month old son.

Would be great to meet up with others who are already settled or just arrived.

OMG!!!

Just checked our Visa application status on the DIAC website and found that our 175 Visa has been granted and not only that, it was on 22nd June which was our 3rd Wedding Anniversary... result

Please share how long did it take your CO to ask for medicals and police checks after CO allocation. My CO was assigned 2 months back and he has not asked for medicals/police checks yet.

Well, our application for a 175 Visa was submitted to DIAC on 5th Feb 2010 and they sent a request for Meds and Police checks to our Visa agent on 23rd March so it was roughly 6/7 weeks.

Does this include us then as we are just waiting for the visa to be granted. We had already had the OK from all the info you have to attach to the online application, police checks done and meds were passed in April, Does this mean that they wont be making a decision on it til at least July now???:arghh:

From what I've read, if you've already submitted your Visa application then it does NOT include you. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

We're in a similar position as yourselves except we're waiting to send off our Police certificates.

Thanks for the replies.

We had our medicals last week and the results have now been passed to the DIAC.

Posted the Police Certificate application forms today, they say it should be about 10 working days for the Certificates to be sent to us. Once I get them back, I'll forward them onto our Visa agent.

So I guess it's then just a case of waiting for the DIAC to make a decision.

We've just received our forms for the Police and Medical checks from the DIAC.

What I'd like to know from people who have gone through this process, how long after the checks have been sent back to Oz is the Visa likely to be granted, assuming the checks are ok of course.

Hi Greg,

We went to Sydney and Adelaide for our honeymoon in June and July 2007. The OH has family in Largs North, not far from Semaphore as well as Elizabeth and Salisbury Heights.

We managed to look around some of the suburbs whilst we were there so got some idea of which were nice and which to avoid. Not decided where we are going to go as it's still early days yet but if I have any questions I'll be sure to ask.

We used a Nationwide debit card whilst in Adelaide last year as they don't charge. Plenty of cash machines around so didn't need to take much cash with us.

Nice to get an idea of what Adelaide and the surrounding areas are like to help decide which areas to look at for property etc.
