  1. Hi all, I just needed your help to check if we get birth/ child care /Newborn Upfront Payment support on 887 visa from centrelink now? If Eligible - What is the payment one can receive on first child if only husband is working?
  2. I keep on coming here. I ask unrelated questions but people still help (: I see some disappointment, some excitement, help, curiosity and so much more on this page. My husband is an IT engineer and dont know what dragged us here on 489 because when we discuss about our case with couple of friends who are in his field and couple of MARA agents they say, you were supposed to come here on PR. I am not here to complain anything but I just times we get little disappointed when he receives some great opportunities from other parts of Australia where we cant move because we are bounded. We moved here from USA originally from India (were in US for work purpose from his company) we had the opportunity to settle down there but we calculated the pros and cons and decided to come here. our agent did not tell till the time of final visa fees that we won’t get PR. 489 came as a shock to us. anyways long story short, We were not left with much options by thn and decided to move here but by god’s grace he got a great job his way before we landed in Adelaide. Things looked fine or I should say better because we thought now that he got a good option it would be easy to pass 2-3 years(nothing wrong with Adelaide but it’s just that IT options are more and better in Sydney and Melbourne). and now after Corona, we are scared of loosing job, as no support from government on temporary visa holders. we still have another 10 months before we apply for PR (in May 2021). we hope for the best . let’s see what happens. I still feel blessed and grateful for what we have. just some more time and I hope the visa process will be in same speed next year as well. I look forward to a good future and I am extremely happy for everyone who are free birds now. I don’t know you guys but I know everyone has something to share. the success story is always hiding so much inside it.. and people who are still waiting for the grant, I wish the best for you guys I started coming and checking this page before we landed here some more time and I will start talking about my application too ;)
  3. Hi All, "NOT RELATED TO PR, Just need help on a different query" I am here in Adelaide on 489 visa. As far as I know and understand, Medicare does not cover major Dental procedures. I need to get root canal done and the cost came up around $4500(root canal 2500+ crown and consultation 2000) which is a huge surprise to me and I don't think, I can afford it. My private health insurance does not cover this and for some part there is a 12 months waiting period. I am from India and I can get this all done under $200 - $300 from a very good specialist (even with tickets it would be under $1500, people from India can relate with my saying on this.) however the situation right now wont allow me to go to India for at least 1 to 1.5 years. Now, the situation I am in is complicated. I just needed suggestion and guidance from someone who has any knowledge on this so that I can come up with a decision. This would be a great help and your time is much appreciated.
  4. Thank you Sachin and everyone trying to help me here, I really appreciate it. This is definitely going to help me a lot in making the right or close to the right decision. Just to add, I am 30 working in IT company since I landed here. My wife is 27 for now not working anywhere for now. we have Medibank health insurance - Overseas workers standard hospital and medical, we pay $202 every month. Checked with them to add pregnancy cover - they said it will be $570 every month from $202. I find it costly and moreover, I think we will and can wait for another 6 months and then start baby planning so we are covered for medical facility. The only issue or confusion here is that if we are pregnant during the waiting period of 887 how much it can affect our visa and does it evolve a lot of extra documentation and will it make PR grant more awaiting for us? The only reason for this worry is that I am in IT and even though I love Adelaide, IT market and IT career is better in Sydney and Melbourne so I just want to try taking the right decision here. Hope I am able to express my worry and situation here.
  5. so as mentioned by Country People and you, this is what I understood, please correct me if I am wrong - if you apply PR and don't tell pregnancy to Immigration officer, this wont affect the PR time and if baby is born after PR grant, baby will be Australian citizen however if born before the PR grant, we tell this to Immigration officer about it and fill change in circumstances form and get home passport for baby and PR will be granted to all 3 ?
  6. Thank you Navdeep for your input here. in this case if we don't tell the immigration department about pregnancy and for example in your friend's situation, how will you get a visa for the baby? you tell them immediately after the birth ? Wont they ask anything on this?
  7. Thank you my friend. Are you saying that if we plan after applying for 887, they will delay the PR intentionally so that after the delivery they can provide 887 to all 3 of us?
  8. Hello Everyone, I am in a confused and difficult situation here and the best person to help is you are. I am on 489 visa I have completed 1 year here in April'2020. I am working in IT everything is good. We want to plan a baby now and extend our family however the private medical covers are very costly. I want to know that what would you suggest? Should I wait for 1 another year and after applying the PR will we be medically covered ? what are the options do we have or people usually go for ? What would be your suggestions? Your help and time will be influencing our decision, Thanks in advance
  9. Thank you so much Russki for being so kind and helpful every time. I hope you receive the grant very soon:). you deserve this and so much more:)
  10. Hi All, I heard that on 489 we cannot come back to our home country to visit our families(there is a time limitation, per year), is it true? or do they have some slimier type of condition?
  11. Thankyou Russki, kV-IsMyShortName and all other members for helping and guiding me;) I am grateful to you guys:) I hope all you are waiting get your grant asap and have a new journey which is unbounded. Just 1 last question - can someone recommend a good medicare (economical+good), I am specifically looking for a medicare which covers maternity expenses for new migrants. Thankyou:)
  12. Hi Happy and Lucky, congrats:) I also received my visa yesterday and have similar questions in my mind. looking for some responses from our experienced:)
  13. Hello, I am new here. I know its a 887 forum but I could not find any dedicated page to discuss about my visa query(granted 190 yesterday). I will appreciate if someone can tell me that how can I open an bank account with minimum fees from offshore(before coming to Australia), which bank offers this facility? Your answer will be hearty appreciated. Once again, I know this isn't the right page but as all of you must have the right answer to this. I couldn't think of anything else. Thank you for being kind in advance!
