We had a meal in a pub for close family and then hired a social club for friends and school friends etc. We had a dj who catered for everyones needs from disney tunes for the kids to 90's music for us and requests for the oldies!! We decorated the club in flags and blow up spiders, snakes, sharks etc and balloons and the kids were kept well amused all evening.

We went with Pickfords and couldn't fault them. They packed everything well in the Uk and their company in Aus is Allied Pickfords so your belongings are all dealt with by the same company the whole way through. We moved into our rental here and they delivered our stuff the next day.

Hi Him again, The recruiting process is rather longwinded and frustrating here, but I have found that it is best to either keep calling or pop in and speak to the right person face to face as the ozzies are not very good at getting back to you or returning correspondance at least quickly anyway. Hi My husband is a plumber by trade and we got here in November. He has been working for the last 5 weeks with a small building firm. Can't say he does a lot of plumbing though. It's real mixture of carpentry, tiling, painting and plumbing. If your husband is good at DIY maybe ring up some of the building companies. The plumbing companies only seem to want to know if you have your full licence and sometimes gas too.

Hi Jane and family We moved to Hallett Cove on Monday and managed to get our kids into Hallett cove east school. They have been there 4 weeks and have settled well. We would love to meet up or have a chat on the phone over the hols. We have 3 kids a boy of 10 and 2 girls who are 5. My husband is a plumber too and i am a nursery assisstant so similar to your situation! We found the library here a godsend too when we arrived. Our container arrived on Tuesday so have had fun unpacking everything. Just need to get the xmas tree up now. Just got broadband and phone connected today with Telstra. Very good. Hi Kings The school is really good and kids enjoying it so far, It's not quite as strict as our old school in the UK which our eldest finds strange, but he will soon adjust. We too didn't really expect to find a school so quickly but when we did they said we could start the next day!! They learn japanese from reception and after only 2 lessons they are already picking up words. It's amazing. I know what you mean about the last few weeks in the Uk. It just went completely mad what with trying to catch up with everyone before we left and leaving jobs, schools, cubs, etc We will look forward to the long christmas break Might see you at school next week Suzanne, Paul, Jamie 10, Katie & Isabelle 5

Hi We arrived 3 weeks ago too on a PR. We are staying in Moana at the moment but have just secured a rental in Hallett Cove from the middle of December. Our kids go to Hallet Cove East and have been there 8 days!! We have a boy who will go into year 5 and twin girls who will be in reception. Be great to meet up. We met jo Marnes at school and she is so helpful, full of info to get you started! Maybe if there is quite a few of us we could meet at a park over the summer hols, there are plenty of them!!

How exciting! We fly out on the 6th and can't wait. Where abouts are you staying? We have a rental in Moana until xmas.

Looked on the tracker today and all our medicals have been finalised!! our case officer obviously doesn't mind working bank holidays!! All we need now is the visa x

No visa yet. Just waiting on my medical to be finalised. I have a minor kidney condition so i bet they are checking it out! Once it's finalised we are hoping the visa will be popping through our letter box! Surely it can't be that much longer now. I see you too are waiting for yours. Hi Cara Just wanted to say that we too were asked for tax docs for this year as hubby is self employed and last years were no good. We had to get our accountant to do them quickly. I think he turned them around in about 4 days, so be prepared to have to do that! Everyones medicals have been finalised now except mine! Typical. They have been referred so will now wait to see what happens. I see you are from West Sussex. We are too. We live in Haywards Heath. Hope it gets sorted for you. Suzanne
