  1. Hi there, what information did you provide previously and what is requested now? My partner who is the main applicant also did some business travel overseas as part of work. It's one of our worries that this might hinder us from getting a direct grant. Edit: I've just seen your post on Facebook with a bit more information. It's so frustrating for applicants who have done their due diligence with all their documents and encounter COs like this.
  2. He's already in contact with Mark. I actually spoke to Mark and he referred me to the reporter 2 weeks ago. Let's focus our efforts on getting them to process our 887 visas faster
  3. They did a story on ABC 7:30pm program some time back https://iview.abc.net.au/show/7-30/series/0/video/NC2001H052S00 I was updated by the reporter about it. It's not specifically on the 887 unfortunately.
  4. That would be great. I think we need to go to other media platforms beyond SBS as well to reach a wider audience. It's all about getting visibility. If Patrick from ABC is willing to cover a story on us temporary visa holders, mine isn't as impactful because I'm on an 887 for only 12 months (later this week), not living in a regional area and honestly not drastically impacted by this pandemic. Our financials have taken a hit but we can still survive. I think these stories need to be directly impacted by COVID-19. Example: People not being able to fly back while on their 489/ 887 due to the travel ban, people not able to draw from their super, those who are jobless and potentially can't fulfill the 1-year work experience due to it. The goal is to use COVID-19 as a reason to highlight the government's need to speed up its process for people like us so that we have equal access to welfare. We also need to act very quickly while this topic is heavily debated so we can get as much traction as possible. I'll be sharing Patrick's email once I get it or you can DM me if you do not want to go directly to him.
  5. Re-editing my post as I took time to collect my thoughts and consider next steps: I reached out to Mark (the migration agent who commented on the issue on ABC news of temporary residents during this crisis) personally to thank him as it meant a lot to me when we're in a very voiceless position. He mentioned that he did bring up the 887 issue with the same reporter from ABC and could put me in touch with him for a possible follow up story. Mark said it might better the chance we have to push the Government to review their position. This might be an opportunity for us to get some media attention and have a positive outcome. My partner and I aren't in the worst situation and are happy to chat but was wondering if anyone else would be interested in sharing their stories? I'm happy to be the point of contact but would need people willing to DM me with their current situation and how they're directly impacted by COVID-19 so that we can create traction and strike while the iron is hot. I personally think ABC news is a good platform as it reaches out to a wide audience. If this doesn't work, hey at least we tried.
  6. That's so sad, sucks to be migrating into Australia during a political climate like this.
  7. Yup okay, wife doesn't have IELTS, only uni degree and diploma transcripts. Guess we just have to hope our CO isn't going to be difficult. Wish we can do more to prevent this. Also, hoping for the best for your situation.
  8. Hi if you don't mind me asking, which country was your wife's degree/ uni from? I've been having the same fear that something similar would happen with our application as well. We can't afford such a stupid delay and wonder if it's worth taking the IELTS and uploading it now. But it states on the immigration site that the tests have to be taken 12 months prior to submitting the application.
  9. Congrats Pawan, such good news. Also curious if you did any complaints or any other action after your first contact or did you just wait patiently for the approval.
  10. Sorry I can't answer your question but looking at the new documents you've submitted I was just wondering if both my partner and I traveled since submitting our Form 80, should we update the form again? And do we sign and date it with a new date?
  11. Okay, we will upload the transcripts too then. A question to forum members, does it even make sense to take IELTS/ PTE at this point for partner functional English? I've read on Immi page that these tests need to be done 12 months prior to the application of the 887 visa itself (https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/meeting-our-requirements/english-language/functional-english) Just to reiterate: Applied for 887 visa in April 2019. Submitted the following documents for proof of partner functional English: - Diploma and degree certificates from a university in Singapore - Letter from Uni stating the dates of the course and all classes conducted in English
  12. Okay, I might do that this time when I renew my AFP just in case. Thank you!
  13. Hi there, can I ask what you provided for partners' functional english before this and what else more you provided as proof? I've submitted: - Diploma and degree certificate - An official letter from Singapore university mentioning classes were conducted in English and the duration (3 years in total) Is that enough/ is there more we can provide to avoid a request for additional proof?
  14. Ah okay, thank you. Very helpful Last time I did the AFP was a year ago so I don't remember the option.
  15. Can I just clarify if it is one AFP with different combination of names? or did you get multiple AFPs? And you've done this because you have different middle and family names right? Planning to renew all our police certs (including overseas ones) soon so this would be useful to know.
  16. Okay thank you. My partner and I are very paranoid because we've noticed many COs being careless or asking for extra stuff for no reason. We're just praying hard for a direct grant this year. If we can do anything more before a CO picks up our file, we will do it to prevent longer wait time. Applied in April 2019 so still a few more months to go but the paranoia is creeping on us daily.
  17. Hi guys, I was just looking at the google sheets tracker and noticed from user Maansu that CO requested for documents because him and his wife didn't have their middle names in their lease bond. My partner and I also don't always use our full name in documents. Some have our full names including middle name and some have just first name + surname. Is this an issue and should we do anything about it before a CO picks up our file?
  18. Hi guys, how often do you update your form80?
  19. Thanks for your reply. My partner and I do have plans to go back home for a week in December and I will stop by Singapore for a few days if so. I'm assuming I should reapply for the overseas police cert then.
  20. Hi I'm a new member, applied my 887 visa in April this year. Saw many comments saying to update their AFP/ they were requested by their case officer to do so. How about other police certs from other countries that I've stayed in. Do I need to get those updated too?
  21. Hi all, really hoping someone who has gone through something similar is able to advice
  22. Hi all, new member here. I applied for my 887 visa earlier this year and have been following this forum. Many have said to always update their AFP cert which I will do so at the end of this year. I have lived in Malaysia and Singapore before this and submitted my police certs. The Singapore one only lasts for 6 months (so it has technically expired already). The thing is I went through a lot of trouble and money to obtain the Singapore one but if it means avoiding a delay in my visa application, I will do it. Should I also constantly update the 2 certs too even if I am not living there? And if I travel to these countries on a tourist visa, does it mean I need to update them?
