  1. Right back at you Tyke with the grocery prices, geees !!!! I have to remortgage my house every time I go to the supermarket
  2. Hiya Things are hard for sure I am not gonna lie about that, but a lot of work is really luck you need to be in the right place at the right time. My husband landed a job before we got here so we were lucky, I myself have only really seriously started looking as I wanted to get the kids settled again after the xmas/summer holidays in school, im a fully qualified carer/ secretary and I am now applying for cleaning jobs and still getting no where, we have come here a second time and things were slow going even back in 2000 its just the way it works we were a lot nearer the city then too with more options available, something I feel would be better for us now, but we live down south this time. If someone had told me you would get no work here or it would take a while I am not sure that would have stopped me coming, its the lifestyle that you come for and yes its much better here (hence the reason we came back) but things are hard in the UK at the moment no different really, you need to keep pushing employers, get emails/ contacts out there before you come and be very proactive, don't let it stop you coming you need to try it at least or you may regret it , all the best
  3. Have your tried the Woodcroft Caravan park?? very nice people run it sure they could sort something for you, its in easy distance to the woodcroft school as we stayed there for a bit and attended the school xx they have lots of different cabins there all fully furnished
  4. Lots of us arrive without jobs, yes it can be tough but you just have to really keep pushing people all the time, if you have not arrived yet then get some emails/ contacts going before you come, there would be positions in what you are saying all over Adelaide but you just need to be in the right place at the right time, really depends where you want to live, its no different to the UK really nothing comes to those who wait you need to get out there and get it, good luck
  5. No problem Keith, yes thought that too lol, thanks for replying ive tried googling them but no actual phone numbers coming up I will look in the phone book later to see if I can find them thanks again

  7. See this has gone to the bottom of the pile someone must know someone any help much appreciated thanks
  8. Hi there cannot see anything on here wanting a recommendation for a builder please as needing a quote done for a small renovation /extra room can anyone help maybe you have used a good one thanks port noarlunga
  9. We came here originally as it was the only state that used to do the meet and greet service it was a way of getting people to come to Adelaide, we thought that maybe we may move on from here but we loved it. Having just returned from the UK after going back purely for the kids as thought it would be better for them (big mistake) we are now back for good !!!!
  10. That's a shame your a long way from us we r down south

    hello!

oh ok Adelaides a pretty big place depends if you want beach , city or hills really its very different depending on what you choose, more city side suited us before we had the kids but now we live further down south for the better beaches, but there are still good beaches close to the city really depends what you want. Schooling is very different here and lots of people go private (not necessarily any better in my opinion) the schools are not as good as the UK so you just need to get used to that, but you may like the way they do things here, you certainly get used to it, they are very laid back with things just put it that way I have a 6 year old daughter and nearly 8 year old son, we are living in Port Noarlunga which is lovely but a commute to the city if you want to work there its not ideal but people do it, yes we emigrated in 2000 and went back to the UK for a bit and have just come back, most of Adelaide is great for families its that sort of place, feel free to Private message me any time xx all the best
  13. Hello, Weve done the flight when my son was just 3 months and he had the bassinet, but also when they were older 2.5years my son and my daughter then 15 months, I didn't even realise you could have that option of no seat at that age?? we paid a fraction of the adult cost for the kids tickets and he had a seat, we even paid when he was 3 months old, you may get lucky like we did and get some spare seats near you, once the flight gets going a lot of people move around to spare ones. Try and get bassinet seats you have little ones so you will get a look in but people with very young infants will get priority, it may be that you can get a bassinet seat for half the flight like we did this time. I personally don't recommend risking not having a seat it will not be a good idea to have them on your lap due to DVTs etc , I recommend Singapore for stopping over the airport is amazing and Singapore airlines xx

  16. Not sure about the short term rental thing or how old you are, but if you are on your own then backpacking is quite a good and reasonable thing to do on your own, short term rentals are very expensive and the less you stay the more it will be, where in ADelaide are you planning on staying ?? I think you'll find it hard for just 2 weeks too but I may be wrong x would love to help you out but sadly our place is pretty small
  17. im pretty sure they are a big of an english thing not sure ive ever seen one in the shops or anyone with one, most people have those beach tents x
  18. Hello We too have been to Australia many times and travelled with Emirites the first time with our little ones to which I could not fault on service but the plane did have a lot of problems lol, nothing engine related thankfully plus I did not really like Dubai airport. Singapore airlines gets my vote too it was probably down as one of my favourite flights, the airport is spectacular at singapore and if you have a bit stopover theres plenty to look at indoor butterflies, a lounger resting area, free tours of the city, its fab, we too stayed in the Transit lounge this time and it was super, we all had some endless food and non alcoholic drinks and showers, it was heaven after the first leg of the flight, and the staff were so nice in there think it was called the Ambassodor transit lounge, and you could come and go as you pleased, highly recommended, I booked my flight direct with the airline as wanted to get a specific day / time and it worked well I found what I wanted online emailed and then rang them up, they had great response via emails as well as the phone, they held the flight for me for almost a week and did not charge me (usually its $50 each seat to hold it)
