  2. Shopped in the Warrnambool store a few times and I now live near the Seaford Heights store...the Vic store is much more akin to a UK store (having a liquor section helps!). Def a bigger range from memory with a few more known brands next to the Aldi stuff. Maybe future SA Aldi's will be larger and therefore carry a wider range.

  3. If you're vaccinated then therefore you are protected...no need to be a scientist or digest peer reviewed studies etc to understand this. Therefore if you choose to vaccinate you have absolutely nothing to fear. As for immunity, if you're over 30 and unless you've had any sort of "booster" recently then you have zero protection anyway; those high school vaccinations wearing off long ago.........adults account for the vast majority of the population.

As a sick adult, eg if you have whooping cough, you also have a choice (and responsibility) to exclude yourself and not spread disease to those too young to be vaccinated. Such hypocrisy and lack of self education is why this whole topic becomes irrational.

As for facts, ALL medical procedures and medicines carry risk. It is for the individual to assess risk vs benefit as to any medical procedure that is performed on their (or their child's) body. Especially so in Australia which currently has no vaccine injury compensation scheme as the UK does. If you have a serious adverse reaction you're on your own.

With regards to whooping cough in particular, the issue of "community immunity" isn't due to people choosing not to vaccinate, its because the actual vaccine has been out of stock since late 2015 and will continue to be so for good while longer.....but lets not let the facts get in the way of making such judgement.

I think if you have decided not to vaccinate then it is your choice. You are the minority and you must also accept the with this decision comes your community responsibility to refrain from sending your children to childcare and to home school them. So I suspect you don't have to worry about any childcare or schooling issues.

I would advise you not to put such an topical post on a forum and ask people not to judge you. At the moment there are so many children affected by whooping cough because people choosing not to vaccinate has lowered community immunity levels. Very sad.

  4. Activ8me.......just $50 a month, 100Gb. Good tech support to, they helped with setting up a different router to the one they supplied and also my voip . They supply a non-voip wifi router for free to if you sign up to a 24month plan.

  5. I thought carrots belong in a Cornish pasty

That's a criminal offense in Cornwall....Carrots never belong in a real Cornish pasty, just Swede, Potato, Chuck Steak,a little onion, Salt & Pepper and only ever shortcrust pastry too.

  6. I come from Devon and I say scone (gone) - and to be honest I'm not bothered which way up the cream goes as long as I can eat it!

We stopped at a tea room the other day run by a lady from Swizterland and she was telling us that when she started she though that a Devonshire Tea was an actual tea and spent ages looking in the tea aisles wondering where she could find it! She was also fairly intimidated when we told her we were from Devon, poor lady!

I'm not too fussy about my children switching to Aussie pronunciation for most things but I won't have them putting an r in pasty and I'm fighting a losing battle against WeetaBix.

No r in a pasty, and definitely no carrots, peas or corn either!

  7. Agree, I lived in Dubai 10 years ago and the worst people were the long term UK ex-pats, the locals and other nationalities were far friendlier and open minded. In the UK there are still the same issues as mentioned in the original post, growing up in Cornwall I knew people who "hated" grockels and emits (anyone from north of the Devon border). You get small mindedness everywhere, just choose not to associate with these people, its just their own fear & ignorance that is limiting their lives not yours.

Having said all that I often remind my employers, who are Wogs, that's they need Poms like me for their far superior brains and work ethic! My best tip to break down barriers is to remind everyone here that we all share the same Queen, has always helped me start a conversation with an unfriendly native!

  8. I am on Qvar.Do you pay the 37.00 dollars per individual inhaler.?

    Sue

This inhaler will be $36.90 at every chemist across Australia. This is just a co-payment, the full cost of this item will be shown on the label (approx. $70 I think). The full price is set by the government price disclosure therefore not set by pharmacies or suppliers ripping off consumers.

  9. Nonsense, but don't let facts get in the way of a good story as they say. Its easy just to find another 200+ script items that are cheaper here than the UK/Europe & USA. At the end of the day "most" script lines will cost no more than the $36.90 co-payment (or $6.00 for concession card holders). We are very fortunate, im my opinion, to have such a great system here (medicare & PBS), unlike the UK where the NHS will cover a Gluten Free Pizza base! Don't forget its the tax payer that pays for everything, $36.90 is a very reasonable price to pay for a medication that presumably is giving you back quality of life.

Interestingly JUNK food is far cheaper here than the UK, maybe if this wasn't the case then the need for prescription medicines wouldn't be so high??
