Hi A_D, thanks for your reply which is clear. I just had a call with DIPB. The person who answered the call confirmed 3 points (i) Vocational english evidence and above has 3 years validity as per DIPB website, (ii) Vocational english could be substituted for Functional english, (iii) the case officer may not differentiate Functional vs Vocational or upper level in their decision making. However, as she is not the decision maker, she can only provide reference id# of the call and suggest me to quote this ref in an explanation letter then upload the letter along with a new scan of the same IELTS score, for the case officer to reconsider. I did as per her advice. In the same time, my spouse also booked a test but sadly the earliest date we have where we live is 30 June which means we expect a few months of delay. I will update you guys if I have a positive response, thanks

Hi senior members, I have a question regarding functional english. In dipb website it says that validity of english level from vocational and above is 3 years. If the applicant has IELTS or equivalent to vocational and above, could it be used instead of functional english? In this case, should the validity is 3 years, and not 12 months? Please advise what number to call DIBP, and is it easy to reach them? I just wanna confirm, al though we have booked IELTS test for my spouse. Thanks a heap

Yes I just saw it in DIBP website. I am thinking about taking pte instead People talked more about english for main application than secondary application so we omitted that when we lodged 887 last year, and we did not think about this during a year waiting. And now it’s big problem for us with the Covid19 pandemic:) thanks a lot Nudgee, your prompt response is much appreciated and comforting for us

Yes my husband scored 8 overall with speaking only 6.5. The main problem for us is that he works on 14-day shift and he will be working on the date of nearest ielts test day. What a big shit!

no problem for my spouse sit IELTS test but we live in Darwin and the next available test date is 20 June, but we only have 28 days to submit the documents.

Hi, hi just received request for my spouse functional English. His test date is 20 Oct 2016. Our application date is 8 April 2019. CO Julie GSM Adelaide office. I remember someone said IELTS score is valid for 3 years for immigration and as long as it is valid at the time 887 application was lodged it would be fine? My IELTS score is even before my spouse but they did not ask for mine. I am main applicant in both 489 and 887. Do you seriously think my spouse needs to retake ielts?

but the minimum processing time is 14 months, does it mean everyone need to upload a new PCC after the first one uploaded in the beginning expires? AFP is fine, just online application and the result is posted in about 4-7 days. But PCC is a lengthy process!

In the section for uploading documents to support language ability for dependant, it appears that Australian work experience can be substitute for English test certificate. So it will be weird if main application is now required to submit function English cert while all his/her Australian work experience documents are uploaded under work requirement

How long the PCC is valid for? Is it depend on the country of passport? In my PCC there is no expiry date

Date of application 8 April 2019 and my Ielts test date was June 2016 just a couple of months before I lodged my 489 in Dec 2016. I am main applicant in both 489 aan 887 offshore. So afraid that I will receive request for english in the coming weeks.

Hi, I have a stupid question- is 887 application contacted in time order? I mean, if Mar application was granted, it means all applications before that were contacted may not granted pending additional documents being requested? Or just cherry picking and not based on time order?
