  1. Casual community aged care work is always available. As a community RN my employer regularly advertise for home support workers, I'm not sure if $25 an hour is slightly optimistic though? One thing I will say is it's hard work and not a job you do for money, the aged care population need caring for correctly, I'm very passionate about ensuring our aging population get the care they deserve. If your husband is genuinely serious about it send me a PM. My company will also employ without the cert III, it just restricts what you can/can't do
  2. Hi Terry and Wayne my oh is also an electrician we arrived on the 18/04/15. He is enrolled on the peer veet course in June. We are arranging his funding next week with skills for all. He just had an email to say he also now needs to do a five day data cabling course. it seems like SA is very popular with electricians at the minute, here's hoping you can all find work!
  3. Hi Claire-n-tel, definitely haven't made up my mind, this post has given me a lot of food for thought. I don't want to uproot my family and then struggle to gain employment, my oh is an electrician so we already know that work is hard to come by in that sector!! Thank you for your comments, much appreciated!
  4. Hi Jessica I have seen it but never considered contacting them as I have no experience but I think I may send an email to see what level of experience they do require. Thank you!
  5. Hi and thanks again for the replies. i am currently doing my BSc which means that I can register with AHPRA after three months experience. Whilst in Adelaide I went to the office for further info and was told that I could put my application in immediately after receiving my nmc pin. The thread running on pomsinoz is regarding diploma trained nurses. i know that AHPRA have recently changed their criteria for registering nurses but it would appear that this is currently just affecting those who qualified with a diploma and not a degree. I think the best thing to do is contact the hospitals directly as KathleenandCraig did and see what feedback I get from that.
  6. Thank you for the replies, we decided on April as that was six months from qualifying for me. We have enrolled our daughter at all saints from the 27th April. I had considered getting 12 months experience but we are desperate to leave. I have enquired about the TPPP and am aware even with pr I have no chance of getting a place! What happens with the graduates who don't gain a place? I assume they must get offered a job in nursing somehow?? thanks
  7. Hi I am currently a student nurse due to qualify in September, I have already secured a job in a large and very busy ICU which I am over the moon about as this is the area I want to work. We already have PR and have decided that we will move on the 4th April 2015, which will give me six months post qualified experience. My question is what is the likelihood of securing a nursing position in Adelaide with six months experience?? I have been lucky with my placements and have six months pre-reg experience also in critical care. I know I will not get a position in ICU in Adelaide with only six months post qualified but does anyone think I will be successful in gaining other employment?? Thanks in advance.
  8. Unfortunately he's not doing the June one, he wanted a bit more time to prepare for it!! Peer have said they will hopefully be running one later in the year so he will fly out for that one and stay out there permanently. Good luck with job hunting, it seems like a nightmare trying to get in somewhere!
  9. Yes Kennyken he did the vetassess route!
  10. Hi KennyKen we were advised to steer well clear of the UK course as it's not recognised in Australia. We have a 190 visa so he should get funding from Skill Select. Can I just clarify with you when you say the wiring regs course are you talking about the gap training? My oh has an OTSR and we have been told by peer veet he needs to complete a three week course called the minimal context gap training. Is this the same as yourself?
  11. Thank you everyone, he will definitely hold off until he arrives!!
  12. Thanks cbeeb, I vaguely remember reading something about sa not accepting online courses but wasn't 100%. He can do it when he arrives makes sense if he can get his citb card to!
  13. Hi, Just wanted some advice as to whether oh should do the white card course online or with a UK based Company before we come out? He is a fully qualified electrician, and is hopefully flying out toward the end of the year to do his gap skill training with Peer. We have found a Company in the UK called Train4gap offering the white card course for £120 and wondered whether it would be a good idea to do it now or whether he should just wait until he gets there. Thanks
  14. Hi Just wondered if anyone had any views on the above primary schools please? We are flying out next week for our visa validation trip and the principal of Calvery Lutheran has kindly offered to open the school to show us around. I like the look and sound of All Saints Primary but we are not catholic, does anybody know what the chances of enrolment are for non catholic faith children. Moana primary looks great as does Seaford K-7. My rationale for all of the above is my partner and I will be working shifts and so we need a school with OHSC thats starts around 0630. Any advice greatly received!
  15. I don't know to be honest. I assumed because although I have permanent residency I am still officially overseas, I never questioned it because I gave them all of the information regarding my PR visa and assumed they would know the answer!
