  1. Hi We are looking for a football team in reasonable travelling distance from Flagstaff Hill. My son is currently 13 (14 next May) and was playing for SA Panthers but didn't make the cut this year!! He loves football (played in clubs since he was 4!) and is really keen to continue. We have only been here since March and most of his friends play other sports. I am not sure if all teams in SA do trials (So much for encouraging the game in the masses if you don't open up the youth system!! But that's another debate) but is happy to try out if necessary. Any one know of any teams looking for players let me know. Be a shame for enthusiasm to be prevented from enjoying itself! Thanks in advance Sean
  2. Got the long awaited email confirming we have been granted our 457 visa. Found out 3:30(UK) this morning and now drinking champagne! Head spinning as the plan now is to be in Melbourne in three and a half weeks time and then making my way to Adelaide. Handing my notice in tomorrow and booking flights ASAP. Going to go back to sleep now if I can as up for work in a couple of hours!!!
  3. After thinking all was going well we have been hit by delay after delay with the medicals and lack of contact from CO who as far as we can tell only works Monday/Tuesday. the new immi account has been frustrating after tracking medical documents that say complete, then with no indication they asked for 2 additional items with nearly 3 weeks between (partner had breast cancer), which with hindsight I could not believe they couldn't of asked for at the original medical November 18th. It is a frustrating uncertain time in general, but feels like poor management of information. Not sure I would be still in my job if I wasted resources and time like this. what it has taught me is to continually check immi account as there is no way of knowing if they add additional things. Well, rant over and hope once we get latest document they can make a decision.
  4. found out today that they have allocated a new CO. Not sure if this is because the first one was part time and we asked for things to be speeded up, or CO on holiday. Would hope this will get things moving after being excited last week, to 'what is going on' this week!
  5. after all the excitement and anticipation all went quiet with the agent unable to make any contact with CO. Turns out see only works in the office Monday and Tuesday . Pinning hopes on this Monday/Tuesday as I understand offices shut down on the 18th till after Christmas which would be very frustrating (specially as they say process should be 3-6 weeks. Here's hoping!!
  6. Job is based in Adelaide for 3 yrs. will support PR and moving job to Sydney eventually. Will have my 4 weeks notice once/if we get visa and will book flights on the day of finding out. Once we find out expecting 4 weeks of chaos as we prepare to rent house etc.
  7. Have CO as they asked for birth certs for my lads with parent names on them. Will make a decision once received which should be tomorrow. applied for a 457 on the 12th November, medical or partner on the 18th. Made first contact yesterday 9th with agent. couldnt sleep last night as up at 3:30 re sending birth certs. If all well should be in Australia around 12th January!
  8. Hi, Started process to get a 457 visa after being offered a job in Adelaide. Visa submitted on the 12.11.13 with medicals completed on the 18th. CO hasn't been assigned to my knowledge. Employer would of liked me to start on the 16th December but timescale too tight what with my notice. Aim to move ASAP. Being joined by my partner and two lads (4+12), eventually going for PR and moving to Wollongong (partners sister already there) Job have said they will support this. Now just trying to sort everything out and the site has been invaluable so far, though no doubt I will be make lots more use of it. Thanks Sean
  9. Hi, We (agent) lodged visa (457) on 12.11.13. Have a job offer from company in Melbourne, though I will be based in Adelaide. My partner only one needed to do medical (due to breast cancer 2011, but clear now) which was completed on 18.11.13. CO hasn't been assigned yet, so feel a little in limbo. Though aware the average time for a 457 is 3-6 weeks, still feels like a long way off. going through the throws of planning everything, at the same time I haven't been able to tell my current job in case something doesn't work out, so not the best feeling in the world. would be good to hear from anyone going through the 457 on current timescales etc (though know everyone is different). trying to keep hold of the initial excitement, though not sure how I will cope if anything goes wrong. Sean
